๐ฒ A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR COLUMBIA COUNTY PARKS ๐ฒ
Did you know that Columbia County Parks receives no ongoing General Fund support and is not funded by property tax dollars?
Our Parks Department is largely self-funded through camping fees, day-use fees, timber revenue, grants, and other park-generated revenue. While System Development Charges (SDCs) can help fund eligible capital improvements, they cannot be used for routine repairs and general maintenance of our existing parks.
Our team consists of just 3 staff members and 12 volunteer park hosts working to maintain and care for more than 700 acres of County parks and recreational areas. From keeping restrooms clean and campsites maintained to repairing facilities, managing trails, removing garbage, and addressing vandalism, there is a tremendous amount of work that goes into keeping our parks safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone.
We do our best to stretch every dollar, pursue grants, rely on our incredible volunteers, and reinvest park-generated revenue back into the system. But maintaining a large park system with limited resources is a constant challenge.
๐ Your park fees make a difference. Every camping reservation, day-use fee, and park rental helps support the places our community enjoys.
We appreciate everyone who visits responsibly, follows park rules, reports vandalism, and helps us protect these special places for future generations.
Thank you for supporting Columbia County Parks! ๐ฟ
