We are loving the stories coming in for our ‘Who Connected You?’ campaign as part of our district-wide initiative ‘Connected Today. Capable Tomorrow.’

Take a look at this heartwarming shoutout from one of our parents:
“She helps guide my student through a rough day while reminding me that we all go through them. What matters is how we handle them. She is a human ray of sunshine." - Anonymous SHSD Parent

Small moments of connection—like inviting a peer to join in or offering everyday kindness—build the foundation for strong relationships and a true sense of belonging across our district.

Has a St. Helens School District student or staff member, like Haylee, helped you or someone you know feel safe, seen, supported, or connected?

Take a moment to recognize them!

This year, we are coming together around a theme that reflects what we believe about our students and our schools: Connected Today. Capable Tomorrow.

Our work remains grounded in our district tagline: Learn. Connect. Commit. This year, we are placing a special emphasis on Connect because we know that when students feel safe, known, valued, and connected, they are empowered to grow and achieve.

Strong relationships and a sense of belonging are the foundation for student achievement, confidence, and well-being. Before students can envision a bright future, they need to know they belong—and they need caring adults and peers who believe in them and support them along the way.

That is why Connected Today. Capable Tomorrow. is more than a slogan. It is a shared commitment to ensuring every student in our district knows they have a place here and a network of caring adults and peers supporting them along the way.

We are excited to launch WHO CONNECTED YOU?—a simple way to recognize the people who make a difference in the lives of our students and one another.

Maybe it was a teacher who listened, a staff member who made you feel seen, a counselor who helped you feel safe, a coach who believed in you, or a peer who noticed, included, or encouraged you when you needed it most.

We invite you to take a moment to recognize any St. Helens School District student or any St. Helens School District staff member who helped you—or someone you know—feel safe, seen, and connected.

Your submission may be featured in our district newsletter or on our social media as we celebrate the people and connections that bring Connected Today. Capable Tomorrow. to life throughout our district.

Thank you for helping us build a district where every student knows they belong, every person feels valued, and every connection has the opportunity to make a difference.

We believe that strong schools are built through open, honest conversations, and we want to hear from you!

As a quick reminder, our first District Community Listening & Learning Session is coming up next week. Join Superintendent Barreras-Brown, district leaders, and two school board members to share your ideas, ask questions, and discuss what matters most to you.

Your voice matters, and your feedback directly helps guide the important work we do for our students and schools.

First Session Details:
• Event: District Listening Session – Coffee Chat
• Date: Friday, October 23, 2026
• Time: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
• Location: SHSD Boardroom (474 North 16th Street)

We hope to see you there! We will also share details about our remaining three sessions throughout the school year as those dates approach.
