During harvest times, it's important to recognize just how crucial native peoples were to growing and sustainable living in America.

One great sustainability technique in farming that was taught to the first settlers was hilling or mounding.

When planting crops, creating a mound helps keep new seeds warm, aerated, and safe from excess moisture that causes rot. Extend the life of your garden and increase the abundance of your yield through this indigenous practice.

Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day.

We must continue recycling and innovating to reduce items that outlive us as we produce them. ♻💙
