Trump and Republicans have continued to escalate the war with Iran and expand the U.S. military presence in the Middle East, while everyday Americans are left dealing with the economic consequences.

Gas prices are rising, grocery, utility, housing, and healthcare costs remain high, and families are already feeling squeezed by the cost of living.

Michiganders are bearing the brunt of Trump’s disastrous tariffs more than residents of any other state, with costs estimated at around $23 billion, or $5,619 per household. This is not what we were promised.

Recently, I introduced House Bill 6417 to extend the support provided by Michigan’s Community & Worker Economic Transition Office to workers whose jobs are affected by the adoption or implementation of AI.

These workers would gain access to tools such as education, training, career counseling, skills matching, reemployment services, and financial planning assistance.

HB 6417 would help ensure Michigan is prepared for the impact of AI on our workforce and can provide a fair economic transition rather than reacting after jobs are already gone.
