Buchanan County EMS Buchanan County EMS provides Emergency Medical Services to the citizens of Buchanan County, MO. Reminder if you have an EMERGENCY call 911.

We provide 911 Emergency and Non-Emergency care and intra-facility transfers to other healthcare facilities. We provide stand-by medical coverage for community events and school events. This site is NOT monitored 24/7.

Meet Lillian, one of our EMTs at Buchanan County EMS. 🚑

Lillian first came through our EMT class in 2024 before returning to BCEMS to begin working in the field in 2026. She shares what the class taught her, what a typical shift looks like, and one reminder she wants the community to hear: if something feels wrong, do not hesitate to call.

We’re glad to have Lillian on the team and appreciate the care she brings to the people we serve!

Take a closer look at EMS through play. 🚑 The ambulance exhibit at the inspireU Children’s Discovery Center gives kids a hands-on way to explore the inside of an emergency vehicle and learn more about how it’s used.

It’s a fun way to spark curiosity and see something they may normally only catch a glimpse of from the outside.

The St. Joseph Marathon returns Saturday, September 26, with runners taking on routes throughout our community. 🏃

From the full marathon and relay to the half marathon, 10K, and 5K, we wish every participant a strong and safe race. Drivers should use extra caution near the course, watch for runners and volunteers, and allow additional travel time around downtown St. Joseph and the parkway system.
