Matthews K-8 School to kick off Red Ribbon Week and speak with students about the importance of making healthy choices and staying drug-free.

โญ๏ธSheriff Summers announces that a Jasper County manโ€™s alleged shopping spree has officially come to an end after investigators say he decided to treat himself to a little retail therapyโ€”using somebody elseโ€™s money.

Keith McPherson was charged with Financial Card Fraud following an investigation that took deputies across multiple jurisdictions.

Following a collaborative effort between regional law enforcement agencies, McPherson was located and taken into custody with assistance from the Harleyville Police Department. His next shopping destination was not Walmart, Family Dollar, or the seafood restaurant. Instead, he received an all-expenses-UNpaid trip back to Orangeburg County Detention Center.

The Calhoun County Sheriffโ€™s Office doesnโ€™t offer cashback rewards or loyalty points for the spending.

On July 26, 2026, deputies responded to the Edgewood area of Calhoun County in reference to a reported stolen vehicle. During the investigation, the vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner.

The investigation continued, and on October 22, 2026, Austin Tyler Davis, of Lexington County, was charged with Grand Larceny ($10,000 or More). The theft was connected to a transaction involving Facebook Marketplace. Bond was set at $15,000.

Today, many of us wore pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Some of our deputies showed their support with pink socks, our administrative staff and dispatchers rocked pink sunglasses, but nobody committed quite like Captain Larry Vanicek and Investigator Randy Hughes! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’—

While we had a little fun with our pink accessories, the meaning behind today is much bigger than what we wear. We stand with those fighting breast cancer, celebrate survivors, remember those we've lost, and support the loved ones walking beside them.

Together, we can continue spreading awareness, encouraging early detection, and reminding those impacted that they are never alone. ๐Ÿฉท

Sheriff Summers, Sgt. Roger Carter, and our two newest recruits, Michael Martin and Chase Prochaska, had a great morning at the Calhoun County Council on Aging - CCCOA Annual Fall Festival!

Sheriff Summers especially enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces and catching up with members of our community. There was great food, plenty of fellowship, and even a very special visitor-Teddy the Kangaroo from PaP&Yaโ€™s MisFit farm! Sheriff Summers was pretty excited to get to hold Teddy! ๐Ÿฆ˜

We want to send a huge thank you to the Council on Aging for inviting us and, more importantly, for the love, care, and dedication you pour into serving our seniors. The work you do to make sure they feel valued, cared for, and connected makes a meaningful difference in our community.
