We now have a certified NEOHero Instructor at Calhoun County EMS. This will allow us to keep our staff trained internally on how to care for newborns and take care of mothers during delivery. This is a needed skill for our staff to be able to deliver the best care for these specific and rare emergencies. We are hoping to add additional instructors over the next 6 months but this is one step forward! Thank you to our Training Director, BJ Meetze, for all you do for our community and keeping our staff trained and prepared.

🚒🚑 TRAINING TOGETHER. RESPONDING TOGETHER. 🚑🚒

Calhoun County EMS is proud to recognize our Shift Supervisor for completing a Vehicle Extrication Course with the Saint Matthews Fire Department!

Vehicle accidents are a perfect example of why strong relationships between EMS and Fire are so important. On these scenes, there aren’t separate missions — there is one team, one patient, and one goal.

By training alongside our fire service partners and learning more about vehicle stabilization, extrication techniques, rescue operations, and scene safety, our EMS personnel gain a better understanding of what our firefighters are doing — and how we can work together more efficiently when every second matters.

Cross-training strengthens communication, builds trust, and helps each agency understand the other’s role before we ever meet on an emergency scene.

We appreciate the St. Matthew’s Fire Department for welcoming our personnel into their training and continuing to strengthen the partnership between Fire and EMS in Calhoun County.

Different uniforms. Different responsibilities. One team serving one community.

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — We Remember. We Honor. We Stand Together.

Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced a tragedy that forever changed America—and forever changed the future of EMS, fire, law enforcement, emergency management, and public safety.

On September 11, 2001, 2,977 innocent lives were lost, including 343 FDNY firefighters, 37 Port Authority Police Department officers, 23 NYPD officers, and other first responders who answered the call that morning.

Their courage, sacrifice, and willingness to run toward danger when others were running away will never be forgotten.

In the years since 9/11, public safety has continued to evolve. We train differently. We prepare differently. We communicate and work together differently. EMS, fire, law enforcement, dispatch, emergency management, hospitals, and countless other partners have strengthened relationships and built systems designed to respond together when our communities need us most.

September 11 taught us that no agency, profession, or community stands alone.

While today is a day to mourn the lives that were taken and honor the families who continue to carry their loss, it is also a reminder of the extraordinary strength that comes from unity, service, courage, and compassion.

At Calhoun County EMS, we honor those who came before us by continuing to serve our community, supporting our fellow public safety professionals, and being ready to answer the call—together.

May we never forget those we lost.
May we never forget those who responded.
May we never forget the strength we found in one another.

We remember. We honor. We serve.

🇺🇸 Never Forget — 9.11.2001

Our hearts are with the men and women of the Columbia Police Department as they mourn the loss of one of their own. We also stand beside our fellow first responders throughout the Midlands who are grieving today.

Rest easy, Officer DeLong. We have the watch from here.
