What a beautiful weather weekend. We greatly enjoyed the weather and enjoyed lots of visits around the area. Friday night we enjoyed some football with Southland Schools vs USC. What an impressive team Southland has and that was on full display. It was 30-0 after the first quarter and Mr Dan said we could leave if they were ahead by over 50 at halftime. That took less then 7 minutes as it was 58-0 at halftime. There were so many amazing plays by both offense and defense. The passing game was on point with some perfect long passes for touchdowns.

Saturday had some time to enjoy the outdoors with time garage saling in Brownsdale Community. We got lots of goodies and a few nostalgic clothes options (matching sweaters from the 1991 snow/ice storm). We also celebrated the 100th Birthday of a WWII Navy vet and friend. We don't have many of the soldiers who helped shape America from WWII left but we are blessed by your service for US.

With all the walking, we ate very well supporting several of the area groups. The pickleball group had a soup and bake sale. Brownsdale Volunteer Fire Department had their fish fry. @

On Sunday, we watched the Vikings win with Pacelli Catholic Schools and St. Augustine and St. Edwards church for Shamrocktober Fest. Lots of fun with brats and German potato salad and pie and games.

The last two days I got to gather with the Austin Firefighters Local 598. This group is a great blessing and it is always good to see the next generation come in to learn about the job done to protect others. Thank you Firefighters.

Last night we attended the Mn Adult & Teen Challenge Gala in Rochester. It is amazing to hear the stories of Recovery and Restoration from addiction. It was good to gather with other local leaders to celebrate these successes. Thank you, Senator Gene Dornink.

This weekend had some of our favorite events. Saturday morning was the DAV Department of Minnesota Mower County Habitat & Pheasants Forever Veterans Hunt at Three Arrows Hunting Preserve. I love helping with this event each year. This year was the best weather. Mr Dan and I helped those with Trac chairs and he got lots of good pictures from our group as they had some great success. Thank you to the D**e family from Beneath the Badge for their support.

We went directly to a wedding for someone we have known for many years in Ku and Moon Egbc Austin MN. What a blessing to see a student and someone we have known through different ethnic churches make this important commitment.

In the evening we went to Adams American Legion Post 146 for the Southland Clay Target Team supper fundraiser. We also enjoyed the good music and fundraiser with the The Cheap Seats at the Austin VFW Post 1216.

Sunday after church we attended the market at Orpington Acres LLC. We ended up getting some veggies, carmels and some gifts for some coworkers. I was honored to sing the National Anthem for the Sunday Soccer League Austin MN. What an amazing game between Villa FC and Halcones. Villa had the lead with only minutes remaining when Halcones scored two late goals to win the championship.

It was good to have some weekday nights free to be able to enjoy some local sporting events. We have many talented athletes across our area and teams. It is fun to see the benefits of involvement in athletics. On Tuesday, we joined the Grand Meadow Public School Volleyball as they celebrated their Pink Out game. Thank you Grand Meadow Lions Club for the meal.

On Thursday, we followed the Superlarks as they played Lyle Public School Pacelli Catholic Schools for their homecoming game. That was one of the most exciting and high energy games we have seen. On Friday we joined the Walkathon cleaning up town with the students.

Friday night, we returned to Mr Dan's hometown and the first school I taught Blooming Prairie Public Schools Football homecoming. The game did not turn out positively but it seems like the collaboration with Hayfield has been a positive one.

After a busy Saturday, we ended the day supporting the Southland Clay Target Team for their steak feed. Such good kids competing and learning good skills.

This week were filled with many of my favorite activities that all mark the beginning of fall. The 3rd Grade Day at the Farm put on by local farmers, Austin FFA and the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce. It is fun seeing many kids first experience with animals and FFA members able to teach about animals.

On Friday, we joined Faith Church - Austin MN and Crane Chapel Youth Group Austin packing food for Ukraine with Real Hope For The Hungry. It is amazing how groups come together to meet needs.

Saturday and Sunday had rain for most of the day but that didn't stop groups from finding ways to get together and celebrate. The Mower County Historical Society had their Fall celebration. This is always a good time for baked goodies, squash and apple c***r and lesrning about trapping and furs and seeing many familiar people.

MacPhail Center for Music - Austin, MN has provided music to so many people of all ages across a huge area. This includes students in school districts all around, nursing homes and music therapy, training in all kinds of music and supporting the growth of music. It is exciting that this important work will be entirely under local leadership.

We joined the celebration for Prairie Manor Blooming Prairie Mn. We didn't get to see who got pie in the face but we did get to enjoy some of pumpkin decorating and games. Our local care facilities do such important work to bless our senior members. The workers are incredibly passionate and provide services to residents who become like family.

Hayfield Ambulance celebrated its 50th anniversary with activities that brought the community together. It was fun to listen to the stories of some of those currently working and the important role they play across the region. We talked to Dave and Christi D**e about the effects of PTSD and mental health on those who serve. The wrote a book and created a nonprofit Beneath the Badge.

Despite the rain, the Micronesian community put on a softball tournament with teams from as far away as Hawaii. There were over 40 teams and an incredible amount of local umps and help to make this work out. I loved seeing the passion and power of these teams. Mr. Dan spent much more time there as he knew several of the players.

Sunday Soccer League Austin MN still had their games today. It was not the same festivities and packed fields but the teams endured and there will hopefully be better weather for the championship matches.

I am very excited to be participating again in the Walk 1 in 100 event hosted by the Adult Congenital Heart Association this Saturday morning, September 26, in Minneapolis.

The Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA) works to improve and extend the lives of people living with congenital heart disease through education, advocacy, research, and access to specialized care. CHD is a lifelong journey, and continued research is essential to helping people like me—and the generations who come after us—live longer, healthier lives.

This cause is deeply personal to me because I was born with congenital heart disease in 1981. At the time, my family was told that even with an experimental surgery, I might not survive. In fact, after several months in the hospital, my parents were told I would never see my 2nd birthday.

But God had other plans.

Today, I am incredibly grateful to be here—and I know I did not get here alone. I am thankful beyond words for my family, who stood beside me; for the doctors and medical professionals who cared for me and fought for me. Most of all, I am grateful for God’s provision, protection, and the prayers of so many people.
Because of advances in congenital heart research and medical care, I have been given opportunities that may not have been possible for children with CHD in generations before me. But there is still so much more to learn.

That is why I’m walking.
I’m walking for the little girl I was.
I’m walking for the family who never gave up.
I’m walking in gratitude for the doctors who cared for me.
I’m walking in faith for the years God has given me.
And I’m walking for the 1 in 100 who are living with congenital heart disease.

If you are able, I would be honored to have your support. Please consider donating to my walk by clicking the link below.

Every dollar helps support CHD research and the work being done to give people with congenital heart disease a better future.

Let's make sure each CHD family has resources and support!

This is the season for church meals and it is fun to see so many people who gather together around good food and fellowship. Thank you to St John's lutheran church of Elkton and St Peters Church of Rose Creek. We love how this brings people together.

On Friday, we enjoyed the Home Opener for Austin Bruins Hockey. I got to sing the National Anthem which is always a great honor. It is going to be another exciting season with two overtime winners this weekend. Let's go Bruins. I also attended the Rachels Hope fun day at their center with lots of fun to be had for families. It is amazing to see all the good done by this organization who is funded entirely from local grants and donations.

Saturday had a lot of activities including the Recovery Is Happening Walk for Recovery. Jason Lennox was the speaker amd talked about the importance of getting stories of hope and overcoming out there so people can understand the truth of addiction and get involved as it takes a whole community to recover.

In the evening was supposed to be the Beyond the Shadows event for Mental Health. Mental Health is such an important issue across our community that the most powerful weapon is community and sharing. Sadly this event got canceled so we went out for Asian food instead at Pho Kayah. Yummy!!

This past weekend gave us perfect weather and lots of fun events around the district. Thank you to those who put in the hard work to bless others and provide opportunities to come together for good.

On Saturday morning we gathered with many others to celebrate God, family and community for the Bo Strong breakfast in BP. Mom shared of all the events that came together perfectly to have her son still with us today. What a blessing!!

We stopped at the Hollandale, MN celebration and learned about the special work that made this town prosper as a hib for sod and vegetables. It was fun to see friends from teaching at Hollandale Christian School and got our homemade ice cream sandwiches.

We then made it over to the Bohemian Brick Hall for Czech Fest. Mr Dan is Czech and grew up with polka music so we always love this event. We had brats and kalachy and he even got me out for 2 polkas. Lots of fun always.

Mr Dan watched the Austin Boys' Soccer game when we made it back into town. He was really impressed by their teamwork in a highly contested game with Worthington.

At night we returned to Blooming Prairie for their cancer auction. This is a special event as we honor many friends and family who have fought through cancer. This year was especially meaningful as two local people Sue and Erica (my former student) were lost and my dad's continued fight with cancer. The heartwarming tributes and a BIG surprise donation made the night both emotional and joyful.
BP Cancer Group

On Sunday Mr Dan shared about one of the many cultures who make our area home as part of church. Then we went to St Finbarr Catholic Church in Grand Meadow for their Fall Festival. What a fun community event.

Mr Dan went off to watch the Sunday Soccer League Austin MN semifinal games. In the evening we visited and ate dinner from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg, MN for our monthly movie night.

Today I had my first day of school for year 22 as I am teaching Romeo and Juliet for a couple weeks at Pacelli Catholic Schools while a teacher makes a special trip to visit her son home from the service. I am excited as I love teaching.
