What a fantastic way to start the week, with positivity, joy, and inspiration. The Promise of Tomorrow, along with several key community partners, joined John Hoffman and me to kick off the "How Are the Children in Community" series.

Being with community, determined to improve outcomes for our kids, is powerful. Working together in a space designed for change makes it even more so. So grateful to be a part of this work for our future generations.

Our veterans deserve the best. As a member who has served on the House Veterans Affairs Committee, I'm grateful to partner with the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs to achieve positive, life-changing outcomes like these for the brave women and men who have worn the uniform. 🇺🇸

Thank you, Education Minnesota, for inviting me to participate in the Public Education Leadership Panel! I appreciated hearing from leaders in different roles across our public education system. Their commitment to student success and well-being reflects what makes Minnesota’s public schools so strong.

Today only marks the fourth time we’ve officially recognized Indigenous Peoples Day as a permanent state holiday in Minnesota. There’s no shortage of ways to mark the occasion and recognize the history and contributions of Native peoples, and I know I’ll spend part of today remembering our first one in 2023 when Speaker Melissa Hortman joined us in Moorhead.

I championed the legislation establishing this holiday, but this work doesn’t get done without Melissa’s backing. She took the time to lift up Indigenous communities, and spending that day with her in our community is a cherished memory I’ll hold forever.

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day, Minnesota!

It was a gorgeous day to celebrate the groundbreaking of Thompson Oaks, a transformative redevelopment to bring new homes, commercial space, and a community park to the former YMCA site in West St. Paul. I was honored to partner with the of West Saint Paul and County to secure state funding for this exciting new project.

As the legislative author of the Early Literacy Field Experience Bill last session, I am optimistic about how it will help children and prepare stronger teachers.

Minnesota State University Moorhead is already implementing Literacy Labs to meet this legislation. The teacher candidates (fellows) have delivered 637 tutoring sessions to 59 K-3 students across two semesters, and I couldn't be prouder of them. It was great meeting fellows Isaac, Maggie, and Abigail at the Minnesota Business Partnership's annual gathering and hearing about how these labs are inspiring the next generation of teachers.

Shout-out to Dr. Lucy Payne, who was instrumental in implementing and monitoring the program!

Had an informative conference at the 2026 Consensus Council's International Legislators' Forum in Fargo! This cross-country, cross-state, nonpartisan group aims to explore what's working in our respective areas, what's not, and how we can develop collaborative solutions that address our communities' needs.

With Domestic Violence Awareness month just around the corner, I'm glad to see this critically needed task force come together. We've seen too much tragedy across Minnesota and recently in Inver Grove Heights, and our residents deserve to know what we're doing to keep more of our neighbors safe.

A new Minnesota task force is starting work on a statewide plan to better respond to, track and prevent domestic violence. ⬇️Click the link in the comments to read more
