For the second straight year, Minnesotans are facing significant increases in their health insurance premiums. With health care already becoming more expensive and less accessible under Donald Trump, the new rates mean thousands of dollars in additional costs for some families, at a time when increasing prices for gas, groceries, and other household expenses are stretching them thin.

These are the results we see from Republicans who have prioritized tax breaks for billionaires: working people being asked to pay more for the care they count on to live healthy lives. Minnesotans deserve better.

Minnesota will always stand up for kids. And we'll do so even in the face of a trillionaire who's demanding we reinstate the #1 tool used to sexually exploit and expose kids online.

The lawsuit from Elon Musk's xAI that asked the court to overturn our new ban on AI nudification technology had its first hearing in federal court today. I was proud to stand with Attorney General Keith Ellison, Senator Erin Maye Quade, and most importantly, the advocates who have been exploited by a predator who used this dangerous tool to harm them. Millions of other women and children are harmed by this tech every single day, and the advocates are vulnerably sharing their story to try to change that.

Like a true Northstar State, we’re proud to lead the way in protecting the safety and dignity of women and children from the threats and harms of AI nudification technology. We've heard from 12 other states who plan to use our law as a model to take action in their legislatures and assemblies, and we're meeting with members of Congress to continue to advocate for federal action as well.

Preventing corporations from exploiting children for profit is important work. Here in Minnesota, doing nothing is unacceptable. Tackling this problem has required we take an innovative approach, and we'll do everything in our power to continue to hold corporations accountable when they choose to put profits over people and put women and kids in harm's way in the process.

Trillionaire Elon Musk, through his xAI company, is suing to stop Minnesota's new ban on AI "nudification" from taking effect. I carried the bill this past session to ban this tool, the victims of which are overwhelmingly children and women. School bullies use it to harass and humiliate their peers, while stalkers, abusers, and predators use it to intimidate and exploit innocent people. Child sexual abuse material has surged by 26,000% due to the feature, with fake n**e images devastating lives. This is what happens when corporations think they can do whatever they want to make a profit. They're enabling the sexual exploitation of children for their own greed.

As Minnesotans, we’re going to stand together to protect children and women from being exploited for profit by the richest man in the world, billionaires, and tech giants.

On August 1, my bill to ban AI "nudification" – the tool used to create fake, sexually explicit images of people without their consent – takes effect. Clearly, Big Tech hasn't implemented adequate safeguards against this reprehensible activity, of which there has been a 26,000% increase. If corporations won't step up, it's up to policymakers to put forth solutions that protect people, and that's exactly what we're doing with this legislation.

A new Minnesota law going into effect at the start of next month will ban access to nudification technology in the state.
