St. Michael, Minnesota, is showing how it can work. As the city grows, new homes and residents expand the tax base, helping the city fund services without increasing property taxes on existing homeowners.

St. Michael leaders say existing homeowners are not expected to see a city property tax increase as the fast-growing city adds new residents.

On Sep. 11, city and county leaders representing Swift County and MHP met with staff from Rep. Fischbach’s (MN7) office at an affordable rental property in Appleton, MN. Swift County HRA is actively working to acquire the property and preserve the homes for residents.
