What time is it?
It’s Crunch Time – aka the Great Apple Crunch!

Today, dozens of families joined us at the Capitol to kick off Farm to Kids Month and bite into free, locally grown apples.

And this is just the beginning. Throughout October, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, the Minnesota Department of Education, and partners across the state are recognizing the farmers who grow nutritious, local food for Minnesota’s kids.

Farm to Kids Month supports a statewide plan to expand local purchasing and agricultural education in K–12 schools and early care settings. Thanks to bipartisan support, the Senate’s latest Omnibus Agriculture Bill increased funding for programs like these - helping more Minnesota children connect with fresh, local food.

Minnesotans visited food shelves more than 9 million times in 2025. When federal funding for those food shelves disappeared, Minnesota stepped up - launching the Farm to Food Security Grant Program to keep families fed and support local farmers.

Around 60% of Minnesota’s Medicaid providers offering high-risk services were dropped from the state’s program as a result of the Department of Human Services' revalidation efforts.
