Saint Paul’s fall residential street sweep begins today, October 19. Crews expect it to take four to six weeks to cover the city’s 530 miles of residential streets.
Temporary “No Parking” signs go up 24 to 48 hours before crews arrive. On the posted day, parking is banned from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and crews can ticket or tow vehicles left on the street. Keep garbage and recycling carts on the boulevard, not in the street.
Sweeping keeps leaves and debris out of storm drains, which empty directly into local lakes, rivers, and streams. Pushing leaves, grass clippings, or dirt into the street is illegal, and property owners can be ticketed.
