Inspiring the next generation of powerline workers!

Last week, two of our linemen—Justin (Apprentice) and Jordan (Lead)—visited the College and Career Fair in St. Paul to speak with students from St. Paul, Palmer, Centura, and Loup City. They answered great questions about what line school and training are really like, what a day on the job entails, and how to get started in the trade.

At Howard Greeley Rural Public Power District, we’re proud to support local students exploring their future options. We offer:
⚡ Job shadows
⚡ Sponsorship to the annual Energy and Leadership Camp
⚡ An annual scholarship for a line school student
⚡ Summer internships for first-year line school students

Know a student who might be interested in these opportunities? Give our office a call today to learn more!

Attention St. Libory area customers!! We will have a tree service trimming trees by the power lines starting the week of September 28th. IF they need to, they will be contacting customers, not our linemen. So if you have any questions, you will need to talk with them. Thank you!

🌳 🌳 Help Us Keep the Lights On & Rates Low! ⚡
Did you know that maintaining trees and vegetation on private property is the landowner’s responsibility?
When our crews have to step in to trim back overgrown branches near service lines over private property, it takes our linemen away from their primary duty: maintaining our electrical grid and responding to power outages as quickly as possible.
Beyond the delay to critical utility work, using skilled lineman hours for routine tree trimming adds extra operational costs—expenses that ultimately impact electric rates for everyone in our community.
How you can help:
*Inspect your yard: Keep an eye on trees near your property's overhead service lines.
*Hire professionals: Hire qualified tree-trimming services to keep branches safely cleared before they become a hazard.
*Call before you cut: If a branch is critically close to a high-voltage line, contact us first so we can ensure the area is safe before any work begins.
Taking care of the trees on your land keeps our linemen focused on essential grid work, protects public safety, and helps us keep your power affordable.
Thank you for doing your part to support a reliable power grid! 💡

Farm and ranch life is full of valuable lessons — but also serious risks, especially for kids. Think twice before letting kids drive tractors; they are linked to more than 40%
of fatal farm accidents for those younger
than 15.

🏠Should you turn off your breaker box when the power goes out? In many cases, yes. During an extended outage, turn off breakers or unplug electronics and appliances. Leave one breaker on with a lamp or light so you know when power is restored. Before an emergency, label your breaker panel and know which circuits are essential.

We are having an issue this morning near St. Paul in one of our Substations. We do have the crews there and are working on it. Please be patient and they will have it up and running as soon as they possible can. Thank you for understanding.
