**TRUNK OR TREAT RESCHEDULED TO OCTOBER 29!**

We are disappointed to announce that due to the threat of severe weather this afternoon and evening, we have made the difficult decision to postpone tonight's Trunk or Treat event.

We know how much our community looks forward to this event, and we were just as excited to see all the costumes, decorated vehicles, and smiling faces! However, with hundreds of children and families expected to attend, the safety of our participants, volunteers, and guests must always be our number one priority.

**The good news is that we aren't canceling the fun, just postponing it!**

Please join us on **Thursday, October 29, from 6–8 PM**, for our rescheduled Trunk or Treat!

We appreciate everyone's understanding and patience. We are just as disappointed as you are, but we look forward to seeing everyone in two weeks for a fun and safe evening!

We are continuing to watch the skies and closely monitor the upcoming weather forecast over the next 24 hours for Thursday’s Trunk or Treat event. Rain is still in the forecast, and if it ends up being only light rain, we will likely continue as planned.

We will provide an update on our final decision Thursday afternoon.

Please remember that we do not have a rain date scheduled for this event.

Any updates will be posted here on our page. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we keep an eye on the weather.

Please join us in welcoming the newest member of the St. Peters Police Department, K-9 Halo!

Halo is a 2-year-old purebred German Shepherd whose handler is Officer Chris Mueller. The two will begin their official K-9 training next week in Boone County. Once certified, Halo will join our other K-9s as a dual-purpose police dog, trained in narcotics detection and tracking.

For now, the two are spending time getting to know each other and building their partnership. From what we've seen so far, they are already becoming best friends!

Halo has also been busy meeting officers and staff throughout the department. He has figured out that being the new guy comes with plenty of attention.

This addition to our K-9 Unit was made possible through a very generous donation from Justin Delivers Hope (JDH). We are incredibly grateful for their support and commitment to our department and community. Their generosity will have a lasting impact on our K-9 program.

We are excited to welcome Halo to our K-9 Unit and look forward to watching him and Officer Mueller develop into a successful team.

Welcome to the SPPD family, Halo!

We are proud to recognize Officer Ryan Welschmeyer, who was honored at last night’s CIT Banquet for his exceptional work helping an unhoused man at Brown Road Park. Officer Welschmeyer took the time to build a rapport with him over several weeks, regularly checking on him and helping with small gestures along the way. When he learned the man needed transportation to a job interview in another county, Officer Welschmeyer helped make arrangements for him to get there. The man ultimately got the job.

Congratulations, Officer Welschmeyer, and thank you for taking the time to build trust, make a difference and represent the St. Peters Police Department so well.

September is Su***de Prevention Month.

This month, we remember those we have lost to su***de and stand with the families and loved ones they left behind. We also want anyone who is struggling right now to know that support is available.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline. You can also talk to a trusted family member or friend, reach out to a mental health professional or physician, or go to an emergency department. If there is an immediate threat to life or safety, call 911.

The St. Peters Police Department will soon assign a full-time officer to a regional Crisis Intervention Unit. This officer will work alongside officers from other agencies across St. Louis and St. Charles counties, along with mental health professionals, to connect individuals and families with the resources and follow-up care they need.

Check on the people you care about. If you are struggling, reach out.

Help is available. Hope is possible.
