⚠️CAUTION⚠️

🛑NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN🛑

The intersection of Shannon Rd, Liberty St, Hampstead Rd, and Town Farm Rd now has a FOUR (4) WAY STOP! 🛑

That means….every direction has to stop ✋🏼 before they proceed through the intersection.

We hope this will increase the safety of the motoring public in this area.

Expect delays and use caution while we all familiarize ourselves with this new pattern.

! Traffic Pattern Change Coming to the Hampstead Road/Shannon Road Intersection - Starting the Week of August 17th !

! Traffic Pattern Change Coming to the Hampstead Road/Shannon Road Intersection !

To improve safety for everyone traveling through the intersection of Hampstead Road, Shannon Road, Town Farm Road, and Liberty Street, the Salem Police Chief has authorized the Municipal Services Department to convert the intersection to an all-way STOP.

Installation is scheduled for the week of August 17. During that week, crews will install new STOP signs, advance warning signs, and pavement markings. Motorists are encouraged to use extra caution while work is underway and as drivers adjust to the new traffic controls.

This change follows a comprehensive traffic safety evaluation that included traffic volume studies, crash history, and field observations. The review found that additional stop controls will help reduce the severity of crashes and improve safety for all road users.

What to Expect:

• Stop signs will be installed on Hampstead Road & Shannon Road at the intersection of Town Farm Road, and Liberty Street; resulting in an all-way STOP
• Drivers should expect a new traffic pattern and be prepared to stop in all directions
• Some delays may occur during peak travel times, but the safety benefits are expected to outweigh the added delay

Please slow down, watch for the new signs and pavement markings, and help keep our roads safe as this important traffic safety improvement is implemented.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact Municipal Services at 603-890-2150 or by email at [email protected].
