Today's shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend is heart rending. I want to express my deepest sympathies for the families who have suffered such unimaginable losses today. All of Oregon grieves with them at this terrible time.

I'm grateful for the quick response of law enforcement and first responders. I am keeping all the students, families, educators, and other staff at Silver Rail Elementary in my thoughts as they mourn losses that will never be forgotten.

Live updates from OPB:

Officials said children aged 5, 8 and 11 died in the shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School on Thursday. A teacher was also killed.

For some investments, there is no clear and universal way to measure climate impact.

With the help of Oakledge Advisors, we are teaming up with other large investors from around the world to create better, shared ways to measure climate impact.

"Our responsibility is to lead and improve these methodologies, not abdicate them," Treasurer Steiner told Responsible Investor.

This supports our work under the Climate Resilience Investment Act so Oregonians can clearly see how their retirement fund is managing climate risk.

What if your first finance class came with your first investment?

This fall, students at Portland State University's new personal finance class can earn $100-$500 to open a Roth IRA, through a partnership with OnPoint Community Credit Union Foundation.

"Financial literacy is not just about learning how to budget or avoid debt; it’s about empowerment and closing the wealth gap," said Qing Hu, Dean of the Portland State University School of Business.
