Blast from the past

Last evening, Ladder 6 took part in a Station 6 departmental walkthrough/drill at Salem Senior Village. Along with our brothers and sisters from Elsinboro FC (15), we spent some time pre-planning optimal strategies and tactics for mitigating emergencies at Salem Senior Village should they arise. Led by Chief Ayars, we toured the facility that is partially under redevelopment, learned where various utility shut- offs are located, went over the alarm system protocol, and stretched hose loads in order to learn the needed footage in order to reach apartments from various entry points. Additionally, we strategized what we feel would be the best locations for aerial apparatus to set up to maximize efficiency in terms of ladder reach for rescue on multiple sides and divisions. Much was learned and we thank Chief 6 for coordinating the walkthrough/drill.
