We're interested in your comments on two boating facility grant applications: TouVelle State Park and Sutherlin's Fords Pond.

Oregon State Parks seeks grant funding for a hydraulic study for the best place for a developed boat ramp and the City of Sutherlin seeks grant funding to build an accessible mixed-use (motorized and non-motorized) boat launch and dock, improve parking, and adding a vaulted restroom.

View the grant applications and read about the full project scopes, plus the amounts requested. The link is in the comments.

Construction to temporarily close Bend’s Columbia Park and Gilchrist Bridge beginning October 19.

The current project includes a new river access point, riverbank restoration, accessible pathways, plazas, and site furnishings. Work will restore a section of riverbank and provide a small, improved access point for entry and exit from the river or to enjoy the water’s edge.

Non-motorized Waterway Access Permit revenue helped fund the boating access design.

Access to the river is a high priority for residents and visitors, and work will begin soon at Columbia Park and Gilchrist Bridge resulting in temporary closures beginning Oct. 19. Years of use and increased demand on

"In case of an emergency..."

Here's a great example of being prepared with the right equipment at the right time and a crew that knew what to do. Three cheers for a happy ending!

SOLVE's September volunteer cleanups "raked in" another impressive load of human-generated litter and debris, along with restoring critical habitats along rivers and beach areas for wildlife.

From September 18 through September 27, communities across Oregon and Southwest Washington came together for SOLVE’s annual Beach & Riverside Cleanup. During a 10-day volunteer effort, 1,553 volunteers participated in 96 cleanup and restoration projects across 15 counties, contributing more than 3,100 hours of service. Projects took place in Clackamas, Clark, Clatsop, Coos, Curry, Deschutes, Jackson, Lane, Lincoln, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Tillamook, Washington, and Yamhill counties.

The Marine Board supports SOLVE’s Adopt-a-River program to help the organization purchase tools and supplies so volunteers can safely collect and dispose of litter in their adopted river sections.

Coyote Creek Access at Fern Ridge Wildlife Area Closed for Improvements Through April 2027

The Coyote Creek access site at Fern Ridge Wildlife Area is fully closed to the public for safety during construction, which began in September. Closed areas include any walk-in access through April 1, 2027.

The project scope includes a major improvement from the existing walk-in site, to a paved, fully ADA accessible non-motorized boat launch for paddlecraft. Improvements also include a vault toilet, paddlecraft launch dock with an ADA transfer bench, ADA picnic table, a life jacket loaner station/information kiosk, and stormwater drainage.

Due to tight project timelines and for the public’s safety, visitors are advised not to disrupt construction contractors on site.

This project is funded by contributions from the Oregon State Marine Board’s Waterway Access (Permit) Grants, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife via federal Sport Fish Restoration funds, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department’s Recreation Trail Program funds, and the Oregon Wildlife Foundation.
