Our students had a special opportunity today to explore a future career path! Thank you to Detective Rushing from the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department and our SMS Counseling Team for hosting a lunchtime career conversation in the Wellness Center. Students learned what it takes to become a detective, asked questions, and gained a firsthand look into the field of law enforcement. Opportunities like these help students connect their interests to future goals!

Salida Middle School is proud to share that members of our counseling team were recognized by Congressman Tom McClintock for their contributions to the Stronger Together event.

Miss Kayla, Mrs. Sarkis, Miss Edi, and Miss Letty collaborated with counseling teams from across Salida Union School District to help create this community event, which brought families, students, and staff together as we kicked off the school year.

🌟 Congratulations to Mrs. Brodhag and Mr. Day! 🌟

We are excited to celebrate Mrs. Brodhag and Mr. Day for receiving a Stanislaus Partners in Education (SPIE) Grant to support innovative learning opportunities for our Wildcats!

In Mrs. Brodhag’s Science classroom, students are engaging in hands-on investigations exploring concepts such as gravity, acceleration, Newton’s Laws of Motion, terminal velocity, air resistance, and force. Through active experimentation, students are discovering how these scientific principles impact the world around them.

Meanwhile, in Mr. Day’s Industrial Arts classroom, students are building valuable life and career skills through a creative Ugly Doll Project, learning techniques such as measuring, cutting, stitching, and sewing while bringing their unique creations to life.

Thanks to these SPIE grant funds, both classrooms will be able to continue providing meaningful Project-Based Learning experiences and hands-on opportunities that engage students, spark curiosity, and deepen learning.

Thank you, Mrs. Brodhag, her Science Team, and Mr. Day, for creating memorable learning experiences and for your commitment to helping our students learn by doing!

🐾 Way to go, Wildcats! 🐾

Yesterday, we celebrated the power of showing up! More than 200 Salida Middle School Wildcats earned a popsicle for achieving perfect attendance, and our amazing Sheriff's Department helped make the celebration extra special.

A huge thank you to our Sheriff's deputies for spending time with our students and recognizing their commitment to being at school every day. We are grateful for your partnership and support of our school community!

Great job, Wildcats! Every day matters, and we're proud of your dedication to learning. 💙🤍

Congratulations to Urija, our Perfect Attendance Raffle Winner for the month of September!

Urija was at school, on time, every single day, joining 203 other Wildcats who achieved perfect attendance throughout the month. What an incredible accomplishment!

Being at school every day matters. Regular attendance helps students learn, grow, build relationships, and make the most of every opportunity in the classroom.

A huge congratulations to all 203 Wildcats who demonstrated an outstanding commitment to showing up and being ready to learn each day. We are proud of your dedication and hard work!

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing Salida Middle School community for showing up in such a big way at our Raising Cane’s fundraiser last night. Seeing students, families, staff, and community members come together to support our school was truly incredible.
Your generosity, school spirit, and commitment to our Wildcats make a difference in the opportunities we are able to provide for our students. We are so grateful for every meal purchased, every conversation shared, and every show of support.
Together, we continue to prove that Salida Middle School is more than a school. We are a community that shows up for one another.

Join us at Raising Cane's on Pelandale Avenue in Modesto from 4:00-8:00 PM and support Salida Middle School! Just let the employees know you're with Salida Middle School, and 15% of the net sale will be donated back to our school.

Let's be honest... it's way too hot to cook tonight anyway! Skip the kitchen, enjoy some great food, and help support our students at the same time.

Our counselors hosted Wellness Wednesday in the Wellness Center, setting up different wellness stations for students to explore during lunch.
The stations focused on gratitude, positive self-talk, and coping skills, giving students a chance to slow down, reflect, get creative, and practice strategies they can use to support their well-being.

During Su***de Prevention Month, our counselors pushed into all 6th grade classes and electives to talk with students about resilience, support, and taking care of their mental well-being.
Students had the opportunity to identify their own strengths, recognize coping skills that work for them, and think about trusted adults they can turn to when they need additional support. Our goal was to remind students that they have strengths, they are not alone, and it’s always okay to ask for help.
