Participate with us for the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗢𝘂𝘁 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟱 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟬:𝟭𝟱 𝗔𝗠! ShakeOut encourages people nationwide to practice "Drop, Cover and Hold On." This annual earthquake exercise promotes simple, lifesaving actions that strengthen earthquake preparedness in homes, schools, businesses and communities.

No matter what type of emergency may arise, having a go-bag can make a big difference. In an emergency, you may not have time to stop and think about what you need to take with you, so prepare ahead of time!

Consider keeping these essentials in a waterproof zip-top bag or container:
Identification and important documents, home insurance information, insurance cards, written prescriptions and necessary medications, phone chargers and backup batteries, an extra set of keys, first-aid kit, basic personal hygiene items, cash, and emergency contacts and important phone numbers

Make sure your go-bag is stored somewhere you can grab it quickly. Check it regularly and replace expired medications, food, batteries, and other items as needed.

Here’s what you should think of including:

• Copies of identification and insurance cards
• Home insurance documents in waterproof bags
• Cash for unexpected expenses
• Contact list
• Medicine & important medical information such as prescriptions
• Extra contacts and glasses
• Phone charger & backup battery
• Flashlight
• First aid kit

There is a 98% chance El Niño will be very strong this fall and winter. A strong El Niño can make winter weather in California more intense, but not every place will be hit the same.

𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀 (𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗱):
Heavy rain that can cause street flooding
Mudslides on steep hills, especially near burned areas
Big waves and coastal flooding during high tides

⚠ Clean Gutters & Roof Repairs 🏠 The sun is shining so it's the perfect time to start preparing for the rain! We're expecting a rainy fall / winter this year with a Super El Niño. Here are some tips on preparations you can do around your home:

📌 Clean gutters and downspouts and direct runoff away from the home
📌 Repair roof leaks
📌 Inspect windows, doors, and exterior drainage
📌 Trim hazardous limbs
📌 Secure outdoor furniture, tools, and loose materials
📌 Photograph property in case you need to file an insurance claim
