Happy National Veterinary Technician Week!

This year’s theme is: Credentialed Veterinary Technicians: Endless Compassion, Expert Care; Celebrating the Soul of Veterinary Medicine

It celebrates the incredible skill, knowledge, and dedication veterinary technicians bring to animal care every day.

At the Salisbury Zoo, we’re especially grateful for our own - enter Ally! From assisting with procedures and monitoring anesthesia to lab work, diagnostics, education, and providing hands-on animal care, veterinary technicians wear many hats to keep the animals in our care healthy and thriving.

Ally’s hard work and compassion haven’t gone unnoticed. Join us in thanking her for all she does for our animals and the Salisbury Zoo community.

Happy Vet Tech Week!!!

Salisbury Zoo staff recently attended the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Annual Conference in Portland, Oregon.

This national gathering brings together zoo and aquarium professionals to share expertise, explore best practices, and highlight innovations in animal care, conservation, and guest engagement.

Through a variety of seminars and presentations, our team gained valuable insights and ideas to help inform ongoing improvements at the Salisbury Zoo. These opportunities for professional development support our continued commitment to AZA accreditation and the highest standards of animal care, conservation, and education.

While in Portland, staff also had the opportunity to visit the Oregon Zoo, gathering inspiration and fresh perspectives as we look toward the Salisbury Zoo’s future.

We’re excited to bring these ideas home as we continue working to grow and improve our zoo for our animals and community!
