We had a wonderful outdoor meeting at Rotary Patriots Concourse at City Park today in honor of Memorial Day.
Great to have the great Dr Gary Freeze share a history lesson of Salisbury-Rowan’s patriots and heroes during the Revolutionary War in commemoration of America’s 250th birthday this year.
Additionally, our club was honored to have the family of our late great fellow Rotarian Reid Leonard (his wife Mary Sue and daughter Beverly) in attendance today. Reid’s passion to honor the contributions of Rowan’s patriots through numerous conflicts/wars was the genesis of the Patriots Concourse. Today, we honored that great man by dedicating the newly installed Patriots Arch (with working bell) today in his honor by proclamation of our Assistant (and soon to be Full) District 7680 Governor Cindy Fink.
Special thanks to Miller Davis for assisting with the audio and technical services for today’s program. Also kudos to President Elect Traci for coordinating all the moving pieces to make today a success.
Hi Fellow Rotarians, I know its short notice, but if you can help volunteer this afternoon/evening, it would support some good folks. Please read carefully below!
WILEY SCHOOL APT FIRE CAR WASH! Volunteer needed!
Good afternoon,
On March 28, 2026, there was a devastating fire at an apartment
complex in Salisbury. That fire left more than sixty residents of the
Wiley School Apartments displaced, and many of them lost not only their homes, but all of their possessions.
Since that day, local agencies like the Rowan County United Way,
American Red Cross, and Rowan Helping Ministries, have worked to
find permanent housing for those displaced residents. While these
efforts have resulted in residents having a “roof over their heads,” there is still a great need for those who lost so much.
Volunteers are needed today May 8th, 2026, from 330pm-7pm to help with the car wash.
Location will be: J.F. Hurley YMCA-828 Jake Alexander Blvd.
If you can help or know a group that can please have them reach out to:
