Hello, everyone! We're doing something a little different this Friday. Instead of just asking what you're reading, we want to know: what book do you always recommend to others and why?

As always, there's no limits or rules. It can be something classic or something new, a biography or a novel or a book of poetry.

We just want to take a little break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and share in the love of reading and books and literacy.

Good afternoon, ghouls and ghosts! Though it's still a few weeks away, it's never too early to mark your calendars for this year's Spooktacular celebration!

This is the must-attend Spooky Season event , with haunted trucks, games, scratch art creation, and so much more.

We hope you'll join us on October 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 at WinterPlace Park. It's going to be a hair-raisingly good time!

Become a geode explorer and uncover nature's hidden treasures! Discover how geodes form, learn about the crystals inside, and crack open your own geode to reveal its sparkling secrets. This hands-on adventure is perfect for anyone who loves science, discovery, and a little mystery. We will have mystery geodes for participants to crack open while supplies last. The Mobile Learning Lab will be parked at Winterplace Park next Friday, October 16, from 10:00-12:00.

Spooky Season is upon us, which means it's the perfect time for a pumpkin painting! Join artist Susan Zaranski for a fun and creative afternoon of Ceramic Pumpkin Painting in the STEAM Studio! This great event runs from 1 to 3 next Saturday, October 17, at the Sarbanes Library.

It's a very spooky episode of The Mary Minute! This week, our dear Mary Frances is joined by Tisha, and they're scaring up some thrills and chills with their discussion of the Haunted House Escape Room, which will take place tomorrow, October 8, from 4:00 to 5:30 at the Riley Library.

This is another wonderful event at the Riley Library in Parsonsburg.

It's always a special moment when someone gets their first library card, and today we're highlighting one of our younger patrons. Just look at that smile!

Indeed, there's been a lot of youthful energy around the Sarbanes Library, as students from the Salisbury School were doing some volunteer work at the library.

The Sarbanes Library is such a special place, and we're so happy to see so many happy young faces!

Community members are invited to receive complimentary professional-style portraits in a welcoming library setting. Participants may choose formal, business-casual, or personal attire that reflects their individual style and needs. These portraits can be used for school records, personal keepsakes, portfolios, resumes, social media profiles, or family memories. Digital copies of all photos will be delivered via email following the event.

Portraits will be taken by Josh Figueroa from the library's Community Support Center. Josh served as the photographer for last year's Homeschool Picture Day event.

Headshots will be taken from 3:00 to 4:00 next Wednesday, October 14.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to this week's edition of TJ Tuesday! This week, TJ stopped by the front displays at the Sarbanes Library to highlight the great books the Sarbanes team has put together in honor of LGBT History Month.

TJ also highlighted the new October Reads brochures, which can be picked up at both the front desk of Sarbanes and at all of the other locations of Wicomico Public Library.

We all need a break from screens, right? If, like so many of us, you're yearning to do something other than doomscrolling, you're in luck! The fantastic folks of our Mobile Library will be hosting a Tabletop Game Club next Thursday, October 15, from 3:30 to 5:30 at Mardela Middle and High School. Drop by our Mobile Learning Lab, play some board games, and give your eyes a break!
