LSC was honored to be part of the NC Synod, ELCA Gathering held at Lenoir-Rhyne University over the weekend. We especially cherished the opportunity to spend time with the congregations and leaders who partner so faithfully with many of our programs and services.
Our own Lara Hollaway, North Carolina Community Engagement Coordinator for the LSC New Americans Program, presented alongside Pastor Michael Dixon and Ginny Hultquist from First Lutheran Church in Greensboro. Together, they shared important insights into the realities facing immigrants today and how communities of faith can respond with compassion, understanding, and action.
We’re grateful for opportunities like this to elevate awareness, strengthen partnerships, and live out our mission of welcoming and serving our neighbors. 💙

When systems stall, the community becomes the connection.
Immigration systems can be complex, slow, and unpredictable. Families often find themselves waiting—uncertain of what comes next. In the season of Pentecost, many churches remember how God’s Spirit helped people understand across languages—and how God makes His will clear by drawing us together in love and purpose.
Together, we are the connection families rely on. In this Pentecost season, thank you for helping make sure no one has to wait alone.
A recent intake budget showed that about $2,500/month can help keep one family stable during a disruption (rent, utilities, car payment, and food).

The Spartanburg County Foundation recently brought together community partners, supporters, and donors at the Chapman Cultural Center to celebrate the progress made across Spartanburg County.
The evening highlighted the impact of ongoing disaster recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene- and the organizations working together to help families rebuild.
LSC’s Disaster Services team was honored to be part of that work.
One story reflected the heart of these efforts. A homeowner whose home was destroyed by Hurricane Helene faced uncertainty about how she would recover.
Through a strong network of partners and with LSC playing an important role in supporting her journey- her home was completely rebuilt.
Today, she is home.
Following construction, our team had the privilege of celebrating alongside her during a home warming. It was a meaningful moment- filled with relief, gratitude, joy, and prayer.
