ππ Yesterday, Mayor Sheffield joined us for our last Mayor's Book Club Event of the 2025-2026 school year! The Mayor's Book Club students each received a certificate of achievement and shared which book they liked the most. At the end, Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department presented a plaque to RCLC's team, and a collage in appreciation to Tamara For Salisbury Mayor and . Thank you to for letting us use The Norvell for our event!
β€οΈ We are so happy with the results of our first Spring of Mayorβs Book Club, held in partnership with Tamara For Salisbury Mayor, Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department, and Rowan County Health Department. We can not wait to continue the Mayor's Book Club next academic year!

ππΉ Congratulations to Cherie DeVaux, Jose Ortiz, and Golden Tempo for their heart-racing win! Golden Tempo passed 17 other horses! Cherie DeVaux is the first female trainer to win the Kentucky Derby, marking the 152nd year of the Kentucky Derby. Jockey Jose Ortiz, from Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, surprised many by racing from 18th place all the way to first! Jose beat his older brother, Irad Ortiz Jr., who placed second.

ππ Yesterday, the Mayor's Book Club students played Kahoot to reflect on this month's book and theme, The Monster Health Book, as well as overall health. This month's theme and book were in partnership with the Rowan County Health Department. In the end, Kootnz Elementary won this Kahoot game! π
We are so happy with how the Mayor's Book Club has been progressing with Parks and Recreation and Kootnz Elementary students!
