Salt Lake County Flood Control staff went above and beyond to ensure our community was educated, prepared, and responsive to potential flood conditions. We are especially grateful for their creative and efficient use of the public works team members in addressing issues on Big Cottonwood Creek and keeping grates and other areas free of debris. It’s ✂️Back to School! 🍎 Drivers need to step up their safety around school zones, crosswalks and bus stops. Here are some driver safety tips:
1. Be familiar with school zones. Get in the habit of noticing where school zones and crosswalks are on routes that you normally take.
2. Stop for school bus lights. Always stop for school buses with flashing red lights. Drivers approaching the bus must come to a full stop for the duration that the red lights are on.
3. Obey crossing guards. School crossing guards are given police training and the same authority as local traffic police in most areas.
4. Don’t be a distracted driver and avoid using your cell phone while driving.
5. Don’t speed. Remember most school zones are 20 miles per hour. Drive safely!

How cool is our newest truck? Our new Highway Striper carries 550 gallons on paint! It also can be loaded with 3,000 lbs of glass beads which are spread on top of the paint to give it the retroreflection for drivers at night. Our striping team takes care of many cities through out the valley and uses around 11,000 gallons of paint each year! 🎨👷♂️🚚✨🧰

Our crews are so incredible, even dogs get excited when they see our plows arrive! 🙌 We had a long winter and so thankful for our amazing snow removal team.
