5:49pm Monday: Storms over northern Utah and southwest Wyoming will be most numerous through the early evening, with any storms that develop capable of producing gusty winds in excess of 40 mph. Some showers will continue overnight and into Tuesday morning, primarily over northeast Utah. Here's what one of our computer models thinks the radar will look like over the next 12 hours.

We'll be quite mild across Utah and southwest Wyoming this weekend, with highs around 10°F above seasonal normals for most of the area. Saturday will be dry, but some high based showers and storms will develop over southern Utah beginning Sunday afternoon. Any storms that develop will be capable of producing gusty winds.

Conditions will stay a bit unsettled through Thursday with temperatures near seasonal normals. However, as high pressure builds in for the weekend, temperatures will becoming increasingly mild with dry conditions.
Precipitation continues this afternoon across northern Utah along a stalled front. As this band weakens this evening and overnight, so will the precipitation. Primarily seeing mountain snow and valley rain, but received a report of rain mixing with snow in Daybreak.
Our first round of valley rain and mountain snow moves in tonight with the heaviest precipitation Sunday morning across northern Utah. The second round will arrive on Monday. Here is how the HRRR model shows the first round playing out.

A pair of storms will bring valley rain and mountain snow to all of Utah and SW Wyoming late this weekend into early next week. Snow in the mountains will be heaviest on Sunday morning. The highest rain/snow totals are expected across the northern half of Utah.

A winter-like storm will bring accumulating snow to Utah mountains by the weekend. Snow will begin Saturday night and continue through Monday. Snow levels will fall from near 8000-8500 ft to near 7000-7500 ft by Sunday afternoon into Monday morning. Total snow accumulations for the Northern mountains: 6-14 inches, locally 18+ inches for the Cottonwoods. Central and southern mtns: 5-12inches, heaviest north of UT-20.

As skies clear tonight, temperatures will drop below freezing for portions of western and southwestern Utah, including areas that have had an early bloom. The coldest temperatures (at or below 28F) for early-blooming areas will be the Sanpete and Sevier valleys. Southern Utah Valley communities including Payson, Santaquin and Spanish Fork will experience lows near freezing as well. After a cool start to the weekend, another spring storm is on the way starting around Sunday. Forecast certainty is lower than usual with a less predictable spring storm track in place, but if the pieces come together we could see significant valley rain (half inch to an inch) for northern and central valleys and 6 to 12 inches of mountain snow down to as low as 7,000 feet elevation for the northern/central mountains. Stay tuned as the forecast becomes more clear this week.
