Not quite ready for summertime heat to set in across the Western U.S.? The latest temperature forecasts from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center show that below normal temperatures are favored across a good portion of the West through late month, after we get past a brief warm up the next 7 days.

Wow! Impressive statistics from the recent atmospheric river event that impacted California. Even with all that water, we're still dealing with significant drought across the state due to very dry soils, but it's a nice start.

This week is National Lightning Safety Awareness Week. Most lightning victims are not struck during the worst of a thunderstorm, but rather before or after the storm reaches its greatest intensity.
