As someone who grew up around filmmaking, it’s amazing to visit a film set right here in my own district. It’s a special feeling seeing the industry that shaped my upbringing unfolding locally. I enjoyed exploring the sites in District 5 today before heading to tonight’s Salt Lake City Town Hall.

Today, many are reflecting on the outcome of the presidential election and what it might mean for the future. No matter the changes on the national stage, our work here in Salt Lake City, especially in District 5, remains steady and focused. Now is the time to come together and move forward on the issues that matter most to our community—housing affordability, addressing homelessness, and revitalizing the Ballpark area for everyone’s benefit.
Building a better Salt Lake together means creating local solutions that bring us all together, welcoming and supporting everyone in our community.. By working together, we ensure Salt Lake City remains a place where every voice is heard, neighborhoods can thrive, and everyone has a stake in shaping our future. Let’s keep moving forward toward a stronger, more inclusive Salt Lake, full of opportunity for all.

Last week, I had the privilege of attending the demolition of the 1805 South Main apartments, which will soon be transformed into 16 new units of deeply affordable, supported housing. These homes are dedicated to members of Alliance House, a crucial mental health organization in our community. This project shows how collaboration can truly make a difference, providing much-needed housing and services to those who need it most, while helping to build a better Salt Lake City that is inclusive and supportive.

I was to be able to introduce myself to the Liberty Wells Community Council at last night's meeting. I look forward to attending future meetings and updating them on my views on the local community issues.

Today is — a reminder to prioritize our mental health and support each other in creating a healthier, more connected community. From our green spaces that promote relaxation to community initiatives focusing on equitable access to health services, Salt Lake City is committed to fostering well-being for all its residents. Let’s take time today to check in on our friends, families, and ourselves. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help — because mental health is health.

It's been a wonderful morning out in the community at the 9th and 9th festival. Could not have asked for much better weather and a fantastic turnout.
