Ranie Gunderson brings 20+ years of experience serving young children and families. She spent 16 years with Early Head Start and Head Start, supporting families and training early childhood professionals, along with four years in private child care.
Today, Ranie serves on our Board of Trustees, bringing her extensive experience and passion for ensuring children and families have the support and resources they need to thrive.

Always use the top tether on forward-facing car seats:
● Anchor It: Secure the tether strap directly to the marked anchor point in your vehicle.
● Prevent Injury: The tether reduces forward motion in a crash, stopping your child's head from striking the vehicle's interior.

Keep your child rear-facing as long as possible:
● Protect the Spine: Rear-facing supports heavy heads and protects the neck and spine during a crash.
● Wait it Out: Keep them rear-facing until at least age two, or until they reach the seat's maximum weight limit.

Is your car seat installed securely? Try the 1-inch test:
● Lock the Belt: Pull the seatbelt all the way out until it clicks to engage the lock, then tighten it up.
● Check Wiggle Room: Grab the seat at the belt path with your non-dominant hand. It shouldn't move more than one inch in any direction.
