We had a busy yet fulfilling weekend. We had the honor to help Missing in America Project-UTAH and the Utah Law Enforcement Memorial annual Ride for the Fallen. We enjoy helping with these events to show our respect to those who have sacrificed so much for our Nation and our community.

3 former explorers are in SLCPD’s current recruit class. We are excited and wish them the best as they begin their career in Law Enforcement.
If you are interested in a career in Law Enforcement and are between the ages of 14-19 you should check out the Salt Lake City Police Department Explorer Program. Follow this link to learn more and fill out an interest form to join the Police Explorer Post http://www.slcpd.com/community-engagement/explorers/
We look forward to seeing you in our next recruitment phase this coming fall.

Their desire to make a difference and help others is what brought 25 new police recruits to our department. We wish them the best of luck as they gain valuable training and experience during the police academy.

During the basic academy, new recruit officers are taught by subject matter experts within the Salt Lake City Police Department, criminal justice field, legal and mental health profession. The full-time academy consists of approximately 800 hours of training to prepare the student for additional in-the-field training. The recruits receive training on mental health awareness, crisis resolution, sensory needs, legal standards, and the obligations required by both the state and department in order to become a Salt Lake City police officer.

Are you interested in a noble profession where no day is ever the same? Apply by June 17th for a chance to attend our January academy.
