The INN Between is Utah's end-of-life and medical housing solution for people experiencing homelessness.

We provide a safe and supportive home for people who have nowhere else to live during a medical crisis. The INN Between is Utah's hospice for the homeless, offering a safe and comfortable place where Utah's terminally ill homeless adults can experience the end of life with dignity, receive professional hospice services and be surrounded by compassionate people who care. Our program opened in 2015

We honor the life of Jeffrey, who was with us at The INN Between for nearly two and a half months. Jeff was the 194th resident to pass peacefully in a home rather than on the streets.

Jeffrey deeply loved his sons and was proud of the adults they had become. His faith was an important part of his life, and he found comfort in his religious beliefs. Jeffrey enjoyed spending his time watching crime documentaries, a hobby that brought him comfort and entertainment during his stay with us.

We are grateful to have known Jeffrey and to have walked alongside him during the final chapter of his journey. He was surrounded by care, compassion, and dignity until the end.

May Jeffrey rest in peace.

We honor the life of Eddie, who passed peacefully at the age of 74.

Eddie was with us at The INN Between for 441 days — a little over a year — and became a cherished part of our community through his humor, stories, and love of music. Raised in Wyoming alongside his three brothers and one sister, Eddie is survived by his two children and second wife. Music was always his true passion, learning guitar at 12 years old and teaching himself other instruments.

Eddie will be remembered for sharing his music and singing with volunteers each week, bringing warmth and joy to those around him. We are grateful to have walked alongside him and to have ensured he was surrounded by dignity, care, and compassion through the end of his life.

May Eddie rest in peace.

“I’m honored to have written this opinion piece for The Salt Lake Tribune about the urgent need to protect and care for our community’s most vulnerable neighbors.

Every day at The INN Between, we see how access to healthcare, housing, and compassionate support can change **and save** lives. Programs like Targeted Adult Medicaid are often the difference between someone receiving care or falling through the cracks entirely.

As conversations continue around Medicaid changes and work requirements, I hope our community pays close attention to how these policies impact people already facing homelessness, serious illness, disability, and crisis. These are not abstract policy debates, they affect real human beings.

Compassion should not be conditional.”

Thank you to everyone who continues to advocate for dignity, healthcare access, and humane solutions for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. ❤️

We honor the life of Darrel, who passed peacefully at the age of 72.

Darrel was with us for just two days and passed surrounded by the love of his daughters. We are grateful that he was not alone and could have comfort and peace as he took his last breath.

A lifelong Utahn, Darrel cherished time spent on the water making memories with his family outdoors. He also enjoyed reading and the quiet moments it brought him. He is survived by his three daughters, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and two younger siblings.

May Darrel rest in peace.

We honor the life of Scott, who passed peacefully at the age of 54.

Scott was with us at The INN Between for 17 days. While we did not learn much about his life, we do know that he had a love for animals—a gentle detail that spoke to his spirit.

During his time with us, Scott was surrounded by care, compassion, and dignity. He was not alone in his final days.

May Scott rest in peace.
