Sprint Offering Norton Mobile Security Lite for Free

Sprint today announced that its customers with Android-based smartphones can download and use Norton's Mobile Security Lite application for free. The application lets users remotely lock their lost/stolen device via the internet or SMS; scans file and app downloads for malware threats; and automatically downloads and installs security updates. The full version of the application and service, which costs $29.99 for one year, adds a number of features such as remote lock, remote wipe, and locate.

Sprint today announced Sprint Guardian, a new bundle of applications and services that is meant to help customers manage their devices and family members at the same time. Sprint Guardian includes apps from Safely and Lookout. Customers can enroll in Safely for $9.99 per month for up to five lines. Safely monitors device locations and can manage limits on texting and other usage. It is meant to serve as a parental tool. Lookout lets customers protect their devices from loss and malware for one charge of $4.99 per month for up to five lines on an account. The two can be purchased separately or together for $14.98 per month, which Sprint says saves $39 per month when used with family accounts compared to buying them separately per line. Lookout's security app is already available, but Sprint Guardian won't be available for Android smartphones until alter this summer.
