Visit slcpl.org for more information. The Sprague Branch is part of the Salt Lake City Public Library system.

This two-level facility was opened in 1928 and has been renovated several times as use continues to increase. As the Sugar House shopping district continues to sprout up, the Sprague Branch continues to hold its historical charm and provide community members with outstanding public library services. Free parking is available to the east and south of the building, and XMission provides free wi-fi access throughout the library.

We're Renovating! Renovations will begin April 1, 2019, with a targeted reopening date of late 2020. Hold pickups at Sprague will be temporarily unavailable starting March 28, 2019.

While the Library is being remodeled, we will continue to serve the community through the Sprague Firehouse Express, a temporary location only a few blocks away from the branch at 1085 East Simpson Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah 84106. The Sprague Firehouse Express will open on Sunday, April 28. Hours will be as follows:

Mon–Thu · 11am–8pm
Fri–Sat · 10am–6pm
Sun · 1–5pm

The Sprague Firehouse Express offers four public computers, a small collection of materials, and hold pick-ups.

When it reopens, the Sprague Branch's historic exterior will remain the same, while the inside will house a 21st Century Library; a place for residents to explore information and celebrate community successes together.

Repair Update: Library personnel met with the elevator repair company this week, and parts to repair the elevator are due to be received by the end of December. The repairs should take approximately four weeks to complete, followed by inspections and adjustments. If all goes according to schedule, The City Library is hopeful to open the elevator, the Children’s Library, and the public restrooms in early February.

A note to our Sprague Super Summer Challenge participants:
the prize drawing slips (including Level Up) for kids, babies, toddlers, and teens were lost in the flood. If you have already entered, please go to the Anderson-Foothill Branch to re-enter your name for the drawings. They will have separate entry envelopes for Sprague's prize drawing.

Pen Pal Project letters addressed to the Sprague Branch will be sent to the Anderson-Foothill Branch, where they will be on display.

Thank you for your continued support!
