Update- Thanks for your help he is back with his owner.

🐾 Help us get this sweet pup home! 🐾

Assistant Chief Bill Roberts responded to a dog call today, and this friendly pup climbed right into his police vehicle! He is now safe at the Saltillo Police Department while we try to locate his family.

It appears to be an older dog and may be blind in one eye. It’s a sweet pup, and we’re hoping someone recognizes it so we can get it back home. ❤️

If this is your dog or you know its owner, please contact the Saltillo Police Department. Please share this post to help us find this pup family!

🚔💙 SAFETY STARTS BEFORE THE BELL! 💙🚔

Every morning before that first school bell rings — and every afternoon when the final one sounds — members of the Saltillo Police Department and our School Resource Officers are out helping keep traffic moving and, most importantly, helping keep our children safe.

Directing school traffic may look like a simple part of the day, but it’s an important one. With buses, parents, student drivers and little ones all arriving and leaving at the same time, having officers present helps create a safer environment for everyone.

Our SROs and police officers are more than uniforms at an intersection. They’re familiar faces our students see each day, community members who know our families, and another set of watchful eyes making sure our kids get where they’re going safely.

So when you see those flashing lights and our officers standing in the intersection, give them a wave — and please give them a little patience. 👋💙

Slow down. Stay alert. Follow their directions. And remember, there’s a child behind every reason they’re standing there.

Protecting kids. Serving families. Strengthening community.

9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

WE WILL NEVER FORGET 🇺🇸

Today at Saltillo High School, members of Tupleo Police Academy NMLETC Class B-83 participated in a 9/11 Stair Step Challenge, honoring the brave first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

Each step was taken with purpose.

Each step was taken in remembrance of the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, and other heroes who ran toward danger when others were trying to escape.

More than two decades later, we continue to honor their courage, their sacrifice, and the families who carry their memory forward.

We are proud to see our young people take part in an event that ensures the story of September 11 — and the extraordinary bravery shown that day — is never forgotten.

🚔 BACK TO SCHOOL SAFETY REMINDER FROM THE SALTILLO POLICE DEPARTMENT 🚌📚

As a new school year begins Monday August 3rd, the Saltillo Police Department would like to remind everyone to help keep our students, school staff, and families safe.

Please remember:

🚌 School Bus Safety
• Stop when a school bus has its stop arm extended and red lights are flashing.
• Never pass a stopped school bus unless you’re on the opposite side of a divided highway.
• Always watch for children crossing the street—they can be unpredictable.

🚸 School Zone & Traffic Safety
• Slow down and obey all posted school zone speed limits and will be enforced. To ensure the safety for kids, staff and police officers directing traffic.
• Stay off your phone and eliminate distractions while driving.
• Expect heavy traffic throughout the Saltillo school areas between 7:00 AM–8:00 AM and again from 1:00 PM–3:00 PM as students are arriving and being dismissed. Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use patience while traveling through these areas.

🚶 Student & Parent Safety
• Parents, remind your children to use designated crosswalks and look both ways before crossing the street.
• Students walking or riding bicycles should stay alert, avoid distractions, and wear bright or reflective clothing whenever possible.

Every child deserves a safe trip to and from school. A few extra minutes of patience and caution can help prevent a tragedy.

The Saltillo Police Department wishes all students, teachers, school staff, and families a safe, successful, and exciting school year!

Slow Down. Stay Alert. Protect Our Kids.
