25 Years Later, We Remember.

9/11/2001 changed our nation forever.

25 years later, we remember the lives lost, the families who were forever changed, and the countless first responders and civilians who showed courage, compassion, and strength in the face of unimaginable circumstances.

We remember the brothers and sisters who stood together in service. We remember the communities that came together to help one another. And we remember the resilience of a nation that stood together.

25 years later, we will never forget.

🦟 7 T’s. One simple goal: Fewer mosquitoes.

With a confirmed case of West Nile virus in the Ward area, now is a good time to take a look around your home and yard.

The South Carolina Department of Public Health recommends the 7 T’s of Mosquito Prevention to help reduce mosquito breeding areas and protect yourself from bites.

💧 TIP over anything that can hold water.
🗑️ TOSS items that collect water.
🔄 TURN over wheelbarrows, buckets, toys, pools and other containers.
🔒 TIGHTEN tarps and covers so they don't collect water.
🌿 TAKE CARE of your grass, gutters and ditches. Keep grass trimmed and make sure gutters and drainage areas stay clear so water doesn't stand.
🦟 TREAT areas that can't be drained with an appropriate mosquito control product.
🤝 TEAM UP with your neighbors and community to reduce mosquito breeding areas.

For more information on West Nile symptoms, check out Saluda County EMS.

Mosquito prevention is a community effort, and small steps around your home can make a difference.

Check out the 7 T’s and see what you can tackle in your yard today!

🦟West Nile Virus Alert🦟

One confirmed case of West Nile virus has been reported in the Ward area of Saluda County. West Nile virus is primarily spread through the bite of an infected mosquito.

Protect yourself and your family by taking steps to prevent mosquito bites:

• Use an EPA-registered insect repellent when spending time outdoors.
• Wear long, loose-fitting shirts and pants when possible.
• Avoid outdoor activities from dusk to dawn, when mosquitoes are most active.
• Keep doors and windows closed or use screens to keep mosquitoes outside.
• Remove standing water around your home. Empty buckets, flowerpots, birdbaths and other containers where mosquitoes can breed.
• Keep grass and vegetation trimmed where mosquitoes may rest.

Taking a few simple precautions can help reduce your risk. Stay aware, protect yourself, and help keep Saluda County safe.

⛈️ THUNDERSTORM WARNING ⛈️

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for our area.

This is your official notice that lawn chairs, trash cans, and anything not tied down may be auditioning for a role in The Wizard of Oz.

Expect:
⚡ Dangerous lightning
💨 Damaging wind gusts
🌧️ Heavy rainfall

Now’s a great time to head indoors, charge your phone, and let someone else test whether their umbrella can survive 40+ mph winds.

And remember: if you encounter a flooded roadway, Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

Stay weather aware, stay safe, and maybe postpone any backyard wind-surfing plans until tomorrow.

POV: You are a firework being launched by someone who read zero instructions.

You are:
😵‍💫 Confused
🥴 Under pressure
🫣About to cause problems

Don’t be that person.

Light fireworks in open areas, away from structures, and only after you’ve read the label LIKE IT OWES YOU MONEY.

Also… if it says “professional use only,” that is not a challenge. That is a boundary.

Please and thank you🥰🇺🇸🦅🧨🎇🫣

Please and thank you🥰🇺🇸🦅🧨🎇🫣

Pretty please don’t see us this weekend…🥲

Firefighters love meeting the community.

Just not because your “backyard show” turned into a “tones dropping” situation.

Before you light up the sky for the 4th of July:
🧨 Check local laws
🧨 Don’t aim fireworks at anything living (including your cousin, Greg)
🧨 Keep a safe distance (like it’s your ex at Dollar General)

🇺🇸🦅 We only turn 250 once, so HAVE FUN! Just don’t make us part of your celebration. Pretty pleaseeeeeeee.
