Join us in welcoming writer, poet, and multidisciplinary artist Shyamashree Acharya—an MFA student in Creative Writing and Poetics at UW Bothell and Managing Editor of the Husky Herald. Through her creative brand, Ink and Witness, Shyamashree builds collaborative spaces where people write their stories, craft mini books, and leave with tangible evidence of their voice and memory.

As part of our Creative Connect Series, Shyamashree will lead Part Two: “Fold Your Story by Hand,” a book arts and writing workshop where you’ll create tiny books—choose from a dragon fold book, a multifold tiny book, or a tiny accordion book—and fill them with stories worth keeping. You’ll leave with a beautiful piece of your own art and narrative.
Just bring the story you want to tell, write, or share. Supplies will be available for the first 50 participants. Brought to you in part by 4 Culture Sustained Support.

Did you know Sammamish’s parks have stories as rich as their landscapes? In our Sammamish Parks 101 series, we explore the history, growth, and hidden gems of our local parks—while revisiting some fun photos along the way.

Parks 101 is your guide to discovering (and rediscovering) the spaces that make Sammamish special. Let’s talk about Evans Creek Preserve!

This green space was named in 2002 after being logged and continuously farmed for at least 100 years before the City purchased it in 2000. Over the years, the City has made several improvements, including over three miles of natural trails, with scenic boardwalks and bridges, parking, and restrooms. This year, the City added a new loop trail, slightly less than a mile, at the south end, and is currently working on linking it to the trails at Evans Creek Preserve.

Evans Creek Preserve is ecologically diverse. Wetlands, meadows, and hillside forest can be found in this 213-acre space. There are two access points to the preserve – 4001 224th Ave NE, Redmond and 3650 Sahalee Way, NE in Sammamish.

This park includes:
