🌍💙 Celebrating Culture, Community & Water Safety at Issaquah Culture Fest 2026!

What a wonderful day connecting with families and celebrating the diversity that makes our community so special!

LakeSafe Initiative was proud to host a booth at Issaquah Culture Fest, engaging with families, sharing important water safety tips, and spreading awareness through our three simple yet lifesaving messages:

👀 WATCH IT – Always stay alert and supervise around water.

🛟 WEAR IT – Wear a life jacket. It could save your life.

💙 KNOW IT – Know the risks, understand water conditions, and stay prepared.

It was heartwarming to see so many families stop by, ask questions, and join us in our mission to prevent drownings and keep our communities safe.

A huge thank you to the City of Issaquah - Government for bringing our community together and to everyone who visited our booth and supported our mission! ❤️

Together, we can make water safety a priority for every family.

💙 150 Years of Impact. A Future Shaped by the Next Generation!

Truly honored to have attended the YMCA of Greater Seattle Board meeting, contributing a youth perspective to an inspiring conversation about the Y’s next 150 years.

A heartfelt thank you to the entire YMCA Board and leadership team for welcoming young voices into conversations that shape the future of our communities.

Through LakeSafe Initiative, I’m incredibly grateful for our partnership with the Y and excited about the opportunities ahead to advance water safety, empower youth, and create safer, stronger communities.

The future isn't just something young people inherit. It's something we can help shape today. 💙

💙 A Proud Moment for the LakeSafe Family!

We are incredibly proud to share that Mudra Machewad, Founder of LakeSafe Initiative - Every Lake, Every Life, received the 2026 Heroes Everyday Award at the YMCA of Greater Seattle’s 150th Anniversary Celebrating Community Changemakers Gala on October 10!

What began as a personal experience and a determination to prevent drowning has grown into a mission to protect lives and build safer communities. 🌊

It was an honor to celebrate alongside distinguished honorees, including Costco Wholesale and CEO Ron Vachris, and King County Executive Girmay Zahilay and Joyce Bruce-Zahilay.

Our heartfelt gratitude to Loria Yeadon, Karen Rodriguez La Paz, Kelly Martin, and the entire YMCA family for this meaningful recognition.

Congratulations to all the honorees and the YMCA on 150 remarkable years of changing lives!

To our volunteers, partners, and supporters, this honor belongs to all of you. Together, we will continue creating ripples of hope and safety.

Enjoy the water. Be prepared. Come home safe. 💙🌊

Whether you’re swimming, boating, or out on a paddleboard, safety starts before you enter the water.

🦺 Don’t just bring a life jacket. WEAR it.
🏊 Take swim lessons - at any age.
👥 Never swim alone.
💙 Be prepared. You never know what can happen.

A simple choice can save a life.

Grateful to have LakeSafe Initiative - Every Lake, Every Life participate as both a speaker and community resource exhibitor at the Sammamish Disaster Preparedness Event, hosted by the YMCA/Sammamish Community and Aquatic Center. 💙🌊

LakeSafe led an Open Water Readiness session, shared hands-on life jacket fitting demonstrations, and connected with families about practical steps we can all take to be better prepared around open water.

It was meaningful to bring drowning prevention and water safety into the broader emergency preparedness conversation, alongside first responders, emergency management leaders, and community partners.

Thank you to the YMCA/Sammamish Community and Aquatic Center, City of Sammamish - Government , fellow speakers, partners, and everyone who joined us and made the event such a success!

Know It. Wear It. Watch It.

A little joy, a lot of energy, and the cutest visitor at our LakeSafe booth! 🐾💙

Water safety is for every member of the family - paws included. 🛟🐶

Dogs can drown too, so around lakes, rivers, pools, and boats: watch them closely, know their swimming ability, and consider a properly fitted canine life jacket.

Every Lake. Every Life. Every Paw. 💙🐾

A moment I’ll always be grateful for. 💙

Earlier this year, I had the privilege of presenting Dr. Linda Quan with the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of the National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA).

Dr. Quan has dedicated more than four decades to advancing drowning prevention through research, medicine, education, and advocacy. As someone still at the beginning of my own journey in water safety, the opportunity to meet her, learn from her, and present this recognition was incredibly humbling.

Her message to LakeSafe continues to stay with me:
“Our lakes and rivers are the Northwest’s gifts. To enjoy them safely, we need to be smart, know how to use them, and be prepared. All that starts before we even arrive at the water’s edge.”

Such an important reminder that water safety begins with awareness and preparation.

So much to learn from those who have dedicated their lives to this work. 💙

Thank you, Dr. Quan, for inspiring the next generation and thank you National Drowning Prevention Alliance for trusting me with this very special moment.

Every Lake. Every Life.

Community moments become even more meaningful when the message continues beyond the event. 💙

At Issaquah Culture Fest, we were grateful for another opportunity to connect with Rep. Janice Zahn and continue amplifying the importance of water safety and drowning prevention.

Rep. Janice Zahn has been a strong voice for this work reminding our community that water safety is an essential life skill and reinforcing a powerful goal: “No drownings is possible and absolutely the target.”

Thank you, Rep. Janice Zahn, for continuing to elevate this message, and thank you to the City of Issaquah - Government for creating opportunities like Culture Fest that bring our diverse community together and give important local causes a platform.

One conversation. One connection. One more ripple toward safer waters. 💙
