National Corrections Officers Week May 3 - 9, 2026 ~

We take this time to acknowledge the unwavering dedication of the men and women in our Detention Center, who work tirelessly within the confines of our jail. Their efforts, often overlooked, are essential to ensuring the safety, security, and overall well-being of our community. Corrections Officers do much more than oversee inmates; they uphold order, respond to crises, and contribute significantly to rehabilitation and accountability. Their professionalism and commitment are invaluable.

This week also serves as a chance for our community to express its gratitude. A simple “thank you,” a note of appreciation, or any gesture of support can have a profound impact. Let us not forget that a safe community is built on the foundation of a robust county jail.

To all our corrections officers: we extend our heartfelt thanks for your service, integrity, and unwavering dedication to Tom Green County. 🩶

Happy retirement day to Officer Rhonda Whatley!
She is hanging up her uniform after 23 years of dedicated service to the Tom Green County Jail. Rhonda started as a Commissary Clerk in June of 2003 and worked her way up to Bookkeeper, Corrections Officer, and finally Mailroom Officer. We’re going to miss her calm demeanor in this fast paced facility. We wish her the absolute best in her retirement. 🫡

🗣️PSA: There are 4 shelters set up with warming stations/beds. These locations include:

After 25 years of dedicated service to the Tom Green County Jail, Officer Charlene Holland has officially left the building!

Charlene began her career as a Corrections Officer in March of 2000. During her tenure, she advanced to the rank of Corporal and ultimately became a Mailroom Officer, a role that demands exceptional diligence and attention to detail. Charlene's humor & wit will be deeply missed. We wish her the best in her retirement. 🫡

Due to her reluctance to be photographed, a candid photo was taken while Charlene had her back turned. Sorry, not sorry! 😬
