The Harvest Festival at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church in San Angelo Saturday, Oct 5 starting at 8 a.m. The 37th festival includes old-fashioned goodness and fun with a country store, homemade baked goods, silent auction, take-out casseroles, chicken and barbecued pork and a church-wide garage sale. Pulled pork sandwiches are available for take-out or eat in from 11-12:30. There are games for the kids and a big outdoor Pumpkin Patch! Funds raised go to Concho Valley Food Bank, Kids Eat Free, Meals for the Elderly, Wesley Trinity Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, Local church outreach. That’s Saturday, Oct. 5 at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church, sierravista.org, 325-944-4041, 4522 College Hills Blvd in San Angelo.

One of the characters in Arthur Stilwell's Dream of Steam Sept. 8-11 is Pancho Villa, who played a big part in the railway line that brought our depot to San Angelo. We're looking for the right hat for our talented actor. In the 1900s Villa was photographed in this hat, a sombrero and in a general's hat. Any ideas where we can get something authentic? Senora Scott, assistant news director of KLST, will play May Landon in "Arthur Stilwell's Dream of Steam" at the Railway Museum. Matt Trammell will be in both performances of "Arthur Stilwell's Dream of Steam" Saturday, Sept. 10. While reporting on the upcoming event for San Angelo Live, Matt discovered he is related to Bert Trammell, the rancher from Sweetwater who beat Pancho Villa in a horse race.
