San Angelo State Park provides plenty of wide‑open spaces, but if you’re looking for something even bigger, Big Bend Ranch State Park has the kind of vast, rugged openness that’s hard to beat. It’s a great opportunity to really stretch your horizons if you are looking for a new career opportunity! (The Bison and I are alright with you staying here of course🥰)

With all the incredible photographers in the world… somehow y’all ended up with me!
Just a few quick pictures from your park on this beautiful Memorial Day. The wildlife didn’t pose, the lighting didn’t cooperate, and the photographer definitely needed more coffee (and talent) but hey, that’s part of the charm, right? 😄
Wishing everyone a peaceful and meaningful Memorial Day.
Come enjoy the park your way, whether it's a hike or just a place to relax in nature!

🚨 New Lake Resident Spotted! 🚨

Not sure if it just wanted to show off or stretch its neck a bit, but it looks like we may have a new inhabitant in the lake! 👀

We’re hoping we get a little rain soon to raise the water level and cover it back up… because it’s definitely turning some heads out there! 🦕

April Fools! 😄

🐣🌿 Friendly Easter Weekend Reminder! 🌿🐣

I spoke with the wildlife this morning and they asked me to pass along a message… they’re still not fans of confetti in the park. 😅

Unfortunately, confetti eggs make a big mess in their homes and are nearly impossible to clean up in a natural environment.

So if you’re celebrating Easter weekend with us, we kindly ask that you skip the confetti eggs and help us keep the park clean and safe for all the critters that live here. 🐿️🐦🐍

Thanks for helping take care of the wildlife’s home while you enjoy it! 🌎💚

🐍 Snake Safety Reminder! 🐍

I know we just talked about this, but our awesome gatehouse team has now received 3 reports of snake sightings on the trails. We want to make sure everyone knows what to do if you come across one!

Trust us—the snakes are just as surprised to see you as you are to see them. Remember, we’re visiting their home.

So how do you safely and respectfully let them enjoy their sunbathing time while you enjoy your hike?

👀 1. Pay attention – stay aware of your surroundings
🥾 2. Wear appropriate footwear – closed-toe shoes or boots are best
🌾 3. Avoid tall grass and rocky areas – prime snake hangouts
↔️ 4. Keep a safe distance – give them space and they’ll usually move along
🚫 5. Do NOT attempt to handle or disturb the snake
📚 6. Educate yourself – these snakes play an important role in keeping our ecosystem balanced

Stay safe, stay alert, and enjoy the trails! 🌿
