When Did You Last TEST the Plan?

Not update it.
Not print it.
Not put it in a binder.
TEST IT.

Try this.

Ask five employees separately:

“Where do you go during an evacuation?”

Then ask:
“Where do you go during an active threat?”

Those answers shouldn't necessarily be the same.
Assumptions are easy.

Before the Defendant Ever Walks Into the Courtroom

A Policy Nobody Can Execute Isn't Much of a Plan

Having an emergency plan in a binder is important.
Knowing what to do without opening the binder is better.

Could your staff explain what they would do during an active threat?
A medical emergency?
A bomb threat?
An angry person refusing to leave?
A suspicious package?

Plans become useful when people understand them, practice them and know their individual responsibilities.
