Maj. Gen. Scott M. Sherman, U.S. Army North Deputy Commanding General for Support, spoke at the U.S. Army War College's 2026 Homeland Defense Symposium on February 18, 2026 at Carlisle Barracks, PA, emphasizing a clear priority for the Department of War:
"Homeland Defense is [our] priority mission. It is the foundation of our national security and the bedrock of our ability to project power globally."
Maj. Gen. Sherman broke down the DoW's approach to homeland defense, requiring layered defense across all domains, spanning land, air, maritime, cyber and space, and integrates contributions from all levels of government.
