Thanks to some amazing friends and the Habitat Store we have almost 100 pairs of mittens to go over gloves to keep folks warm this winter! 🥳🥳
Habitat on Walzem has more pairs for 50¢ each.

We aim to get our folks the things that work best for their situations- one example is aiming for certain types of blankets that work for our specific group/location of folks.

Volunteers help keep homeless San Antonians dry during frigid conditions The grassroots group called Stella SA is collecting wet blankets and clothes from unhoused individuals. Volunteers wash, dry and return items the next day.

Our supply bags of warm clothes/supplies and sleeping bags are loaded and going out tomorrow—warming centers open at 3- hopeful we can get most of our folks inside before dark! We are a tiny community org, so we could have absolutely not done this without help from friends, neighbors, Girl Scout Troop #1516 and the amazing fundraiser The Libertarian Party of Bexar County held for us!

The bags are stocked with hoodies, sweatpants, mylar blankets, multiple pairs of socks, hats, gloves, snacks, Christmas cards, candy, hand warmers and water. Some of our folks needed a new-to-them pair of shoes and those are tucked in there as well.

We need your help! Please screen shot or save the locations of warming centers in this post. If you see someone out and you feel comfortable approaching them (and they are comfortable as you approach), please share the nearest warming center location. Folks traveling to warming centers can ride Via for free. Two locations will have kennels for pets.

Please share the information and use it. Warming centers open at 3 pm today.

There is one day left to donate to the LP fundraiser. The Libertarian Party of Bexar County has far surpassed their initial goal of $500, which goes so far to benefit our houseless family and neighbors. We are unbelievably thankful for their winter campaign.

Heads up for any local folks that want to know their warrant status or orgs working with folks who want to know their status. So many thanks to the orgs that are working together to make it happen (ACT 4 SA, All of us or None Texas, FREED Texas, Growing Real Alternatives Everywhere, Texas Organizing Project, Black Voters Matter Fund). We get asked if we can find out whether or not someone has a warrant regularly. We can’t, but these orgs are doing it 🖤
