IDMT history now has a permanent home!
We are proud to announce the opening of the IDMT exhibit at the USAF Enlisted Heritage Museum. This exhibit highlights our history and honors the enduring legacy of IDMTs who have served around the world.
This exhibit is just the beginning. If you have any IDMT artifacts, memorabilia, or historical items that you would be willing to donate, please reach out. Your contributions can help preserve and expand the story of our career field for future generations.
If you have the opportunity to visit the museum, take time to explore the exhibits and reflect on the remarkable history of enlisted Airmen throughout Air Force history.
Thank you to everyone whose hard work and commitment made this exhibit possible. This is a proud day for the entire IDMT community.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation, including the fallen Independent Duty Medical Technicians who answered the call.
Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication embody the very best of our profession and our military.
May we never forget the fallen, and may we continue to uphold the standards of excellence and selfless service they represented.
Across generations, Americans have answered the nation’s call — knowing the cost.
This Memorial Day, we remember those who never came home.

Independent Duty Medical Technicians are some of the most versatile and trusted medical professionals in the military, providing critical care in austere and remote environments across the globe.
Whether supporting isolated units, deployed operations, or humanitarian missions, IDMTs embody adaptability, excellence, and the warrior medic mindset.
Check out this outstanding look into the IDMT mission and the Airmen who make it happen.

Another successful AFOMS is in the books!
Last week brought together IDMTs, IDCs, and operational medical professionals from across the services to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and continue advancing operational medicine. From professional development and networking to conversations about the future of the career field, AFOMS 2026 was a tremendous success because of the people who showed up ready to learn, lead, and support one another.
Thank you to everyone who helped organize, instruct, mentor, and participate throughout the symposium. Your dedication to operational medicine and to the next generation of providers does not go unnoticed.
We look forward to seeing what the community accomplishes before next year’s AFOMS!

As promised, here is the IDMT Oath. Timothy Eno said it best. Just as our preceptor counterparts take an oath before entering their medical professions, IDMTs pledge their dedication to excellence, integrity, and the lives of those they serve in the most remote corners of the globe. This is more than words; it’s a promise to provide the highest standard of care, no matter the pressure, no matter the environment.
I will have IDMT Oath cards with me to pass out at AFOMS and the Medic Rodeo. Please share with others so everyone understands the promise we uphold to ourselves and our commitment to our patients.

Class 26010 takes the IDMT oath, pausing to reflect on the kind of provider they aspire to become before stepping into the clinic.
Wishing you all the best, good luck, Class 26010!
