VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ON SATURDAY
John could use your help on election day, Saturday, May 3.
This election is going to be very close and will undoubtedly go to a runoff.
The two people in the runoff could be decided by a handful of votes, so a few votes matter a lot.
We're looking for volunteers who could stand at the polls for two hour shifts between 9 and 3 Saturday and greet people as they come to vote and ask them to vote for John.
Not persuading or debating anything--just a friendly reminder. Volunteers will be given cards with information about John if needed.
It is quite possible that many people are walking into the polls without having yet made up their minds whom to vote for, and your friendly reminder could persuade them to vote for John.
Call/text Martha ASAP at 210.364.6474 if you are available.

April 29 is last day of early voting. May 3 is election day.
You may be upset about national politics, understandably, but local government has much more impact on your daily life than Washington, D.C.
Who we elect really matters: it shouldn't be someone who has never had experience in municipal government; it shouldn't be someone who has received a lot of money from groups outside of San Antonio; it shouldn't be someone who has been sued for trying to suppress votes in Texas.
It should be John Courage. You can look at John's record and the records of the other four city council members and see what they have accomplished. John's track record shines with commitment to the welfare of the community and its people. https://www.expressnews.com/opinion/editorial/article/john-courage-medical-debt-relief-20289091.php
All the other candidates are a blank slate. They're making promises of what they will do, or more likely what they think they can do--not what they have done. It's anybody's guess what they can do in municipal government--running a complex operation that is the 7th largest city in the U.S.--but also running a community that should put its two million residents first. John has famously said "there is no such thing as a Republican pothole or a Democratic pothole" and it is his job to fix all of them.
Other candidates will talk about fighting for you. Sometimes fighting takes center stage to the exclusion of actually getting things done for people. Look at John's record--it's a record of pragmatism and getting things done--not fighting culture wars or showboating.

It is refreshing to see an elected official do something that makes life a little easier for others.

I am testifying, as his District 9 constituent, that John Courage is "the real deal"--a politician who believes his job is to serve his constituents and make our community better for everyone. Early on as a councilmember, John said he also had a duty to care about all of San Antonio and to help other districts, in addition to his own. And he has acted on that too. You may have to guess about other mayoral candidates, but with John, what you see is what you get: a servant leader with a consistent record who has been elected four terms to city council by a mix of conservative and liberal constituents. He deserves to be elected Mayor of San Antonio.

"The focus is often on the fight, sometimes at the expense of fixing a problem or making life even a little better for people. So let’s pause for a moment and recognize a difference maker."
