The Annual ***osFest in San Antonio, TX is the largest Dia de los Mu***os Festival in our U.S. with 80+ Altars & 5 stages of music for 3 days!

Every time I go to CDMX, I get grounded in so many ways. This time was special with my Wichita besties of over 35 yrs. Being present with La Virgincita praying & promesas at a time in life when lots of turbulence is going on, was powerful. There was a perfect & beautiful breeze each night, a special spirit each day, a taste of life with each meal, mariachi music daily including early birthday celebrations, sights & memories forever engraved in our minds & hearts. So many much needed tears released, laughs, hugs, & love for life!

👏🏽The Gala San Antonio was a full room of inspiring community leaders honoring my friends SisterNorma Pimentel, Celina Moreno, & Vincent Valdez whom I've had the honor to work with. Huge Congrats to the Honorees & Pres. Tom Saenz who reminded us of Maldef Accomplishments over the past 57 yrs & our responsibility to ALL DO OUR PART during this crisis in our communities in our U.S. Out of all of the Awards in my lifetime, one of my most honorable & cherished is my 2008 MALDEF Matt Garcia Public Service Award for my service in the KS House of Representatives in partnership w the MALDEF Team that I would work with all hours of days during Legislative Session that I'll be forever grateful, as were the KS families we served w Nina Perales, Marisol Perez, Luis Figueroa, Diego Bernal, & all there & who continue to be there. In this Hispanic Heritage Month, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Leadership Conference & Gala provided a space to celebrate & organize for our future together!

I’m holding two truths: celebrating my resilient, cultured community & simultaneously sad/ disgusted how our country is allowing agents to target my community in horrific, illegal ways. Still, I will honor our community together with you!

I was inspired again by reconnecting with DC framily, meeting new generation leaders & mentees. I needed THIS more than you know, especially in my space of transition/ growth professionally & personally.

🇵🇷 Concert was amazing, every detail of the concert was phenomenal; & every detail leading upto this concert was powerful with mis leonas! God KNEW we needed to be together, regardless if 1 of us had to reschedule a major dental surgery, last minute tix, & last minute flights bc it was MEANT TO BE‼️God & the universe conspired for us, & our manifestations came alive in a way that was so magical‼️As Benito says "Puerto Rico está bien ca**ón" & will always be like otra casa❣️

❤️Loved the energy @ the Natl Convening w over 600 participants of university/ college presidents, advocates, & students across U.S., kicking off today with IL Gov & US Sen Durbin, following with the Panel I served: "Collective Strategies for Federal & State Policy Impact" sharing my experience (State: KS/TX + WashDC) & lessons in both State & Federal Govt over the last 20 years. It was great to reunite with former & new colleagues. Congrats to the President's Alliance & TheDream.Us Teams, esp Gaby Pacheco & Diego Nicolás Sánchez longtime familia in this space since 2010 for the last 15 years together in WashDC & across the U.S. now. I'm excited to continue to build on this impactful work!
