We’re proud to celebrate Luis Hernandez, CWS®, a member of Merced Housing Texas’ Board of Directors and Finance Committee, for presenting at a 2026 Effective Boards workshop hosted by LISC San Antonio.

Luis joined nonprofit and financial leaders from across the community to help explore the important role board treasurers play in strengthening nonprofit organizations through fiscal oversight, compliance and audits, and leadership.

Workshops like this help empower current and aspiring nonprofit leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to better serve their organizations and communities. We are grateful for Luis’ leadership, expertise, and commitment to advancing strong nonprofit governance across San Antonio. 👏

Today, Merced Housing Texas honors and remembers the brave service members who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by countless individuals and families, and to recognize the enduring impact of their service on our communities and nation.

As we gather with loved ones today, we remember those who never made it home and hold space for the families, friends, and veterans who carry their memory forward.

From all of us at Merced Housing Texas, we extend our gratitude and remembrance this Memorial Day.

🌺🏡 This Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Merced Housing Texas honors the leaders, advocates, and changemakers who have strengthened communities and advanced equity in housing and public life.

This year’s theme, “Power in Unity: Strengthening Communities Together,” reminds us of the importance of sharing stories, building bridges across communities, and working together toward a future where everyone has access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.

We are proud to highlight leaders and advocates whose work has helped strengthen communities and advance equity:
✨ Yuri Kochiyama — Civil Rights Advocate and lifelong community organizer
✨ Margaret Chin — Former NYC Council Member and affordable housing advocate
✨ Seema Agnani — Executive Director of the National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development

As we celebrate AANHPI Heritage Month, we also recognize the ongoing housing challenges many AAPI communities continue to face. Across the United States, many Asian American and Pacific Islander households experience housing cost burdens and barriers to homeownership, especially among Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities.

Today, we continue to honor the mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and women across our Merced communities whose strength, love, and sacrifice help shape the homes and families around them every day.

From mothers raising young children in our multifamily communities to older adult residents who have spent a lifetime caring for their families, these women carry stories of resilience, compassion, and dedication that continue to inspire us.

At Merced Housing Texas, we know that stable, affordable housing helps create the foundation families need to grow, heal, and thrive. We are grateful to walk alongside so many incredible women who make our communities stronger.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms who make Merced feel like home. 💝🏡

Residents at Kings Court Senior Apartments came together for a special Fiesta-themed meet and greet, where they had an opportunity to connect with neighbors and build community.

The event brought together residents, the property management team from HomeSpring Residential Services, and Merced Housing Texas staff. It was a great time to meet, share, and strengthen relationships across the community.

We’re also grateful to the San Antonio Police Department SAFFE Officers for joining us and connecting with residents. Their presence added an extra layer of connection and reassurance, allowing residents to engage directly with officers who are dedicated to keeping their neighborhood safe.
