Patience paid off. You can argue the tactics but you can’t argue the outcome. Suspect surrendered peacefully with no one injured. That’s a win in my book.

Attended West B roll call today to present Officers Mireles and Botello with commendations for saving the life of the driver of a burning vehicle who was unconscious and trapped inside. True heroes by anyone’s measure!! All in a day’s work if you were to ask them.

Was leaving city hall after a meeting and found this squirrel trying to cool off in the shade. Thought he was hurt/dead at first but that wasn’t the case. He got up as I approached and reassumed his position as soon as I walked away. Funny!!

Think this squirrel is all of San Antonio right now!

Received this email from a visitor…

Always great to hear that tourists feel safe in San Antonio!

Quick thinking and bravery from officers Mireles and Botello, along with the community, undoubtedly saved lives! Great work.

It’s this sense of community that makes San Antonio such a special place to live.

Got an invite to Ms. Mondine’s 90th birthday celebration at Greater Evangelist Temple, Church of God yesterday. Her reaction when I walked in… priceless!! Brought me just as much joy as it did Ms. Mondine. Thanks for the invite!!

High school students from across the City finished SAPD’s week-long summer camp today. This depth of engagement with students doesn’t get any better. We’ll have another camp next month. Call 210 207-5050 to register.

Students from Steven’s HS Law Enforcement class recently won a competition. Here they are at today’s City Council meeting for a bit of recognition from the Mayor, D4 & D6 council members, Fire Chief Hood, and me. They are definitely on the right track!!!

I’ve been going to Southwest Elixirs on Lamar on the East Side for health and wellness.

Santiago and Madison opened up last year. Fresh squeezed juice… Good stuff! I try to buy local when I can!

I tested positive for COVID earlier this week. A big thank you to Chief Hood and for taking great care of me, and a special thank you to Fire Engineer Brian Lodge who stayed with me through the whole process.

Feeling mild symptoms, but I’m recovering at home.
